Orcas have been attacking baby Humpback Whales since time immemorial because the Orcas separate the babies from the mothers to eat the tongues of the babies. I do not find it unusual that there would be confrontations between the two species.

I was getting ready to post something similar. Killer whales will keep going after whales until they open their mouths and then the killer whales will eat the tongue. In spite of what movies and Sea World might have you believe, killer whales got their name for a reason.
