Linemen have reportedly restored power for roughly two million customers in Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian last week, the governor said on Sunday.
The powerful storm rocked Florida’s west coast as a Category 4 storm, moving its way across central Florida and exiting off the east coast. It strengthened back to a hurricane after being downgraded to a tropical storm and smashed the South Carolina coast last week, making a second U.S. landfall.
Prior to the storm, DeSantis assured that tens of thousands of linemen were ready to restore power when the inevitable occurred in the Sunshine State.

This is how it’s done. I still remember when Fran shredded Central Carolina in 1996. It was only a measly Cat 2 and yet it took a week to restore power to my neighborhood in North Raleigh.
No worries. The media will find something to critique.
Desantis is doing a great job. The liberals were pumping up the casualty count BEFORE the event. These creeps are looking for something to blame Desantis on.
Thank you for recognizing the linemen. Good solid blue collar workers most of whom are dedicated to their craft.
These creeps think we can control the weather/climate.
And isn’t it sexist, to talk of linemen? Isn’t it bigoted to just assume that these electrical workers are men?
And what about the gender identities of the linepeople? Are all of the 50 plus gender identities represented on the line??
CNN was asking Desantis why he was late asking Lee Country residents to evacuate. Desantis correctly pointed out that the NOAA originaly had the track of the storm centered on Tampa, and only at the last 24 hours switched it to Lee Country.
Here’s the thing, though. Lee county is 8% black. Tampa is 23% black. Had the numbers been reversed, we would have heard an endless refrain of “Desantis hates black people”.
California did too! At last report with plenty of good winds and sunshine the crews and trucks should be there in time for The Gator Bowl
Very fast. Texas had tons of out of state electric company trucks and employees in our area, but I still was without power for 3 weeks after Hurricane Rita and nearly 2 weeks after Harvey. I read somewhere that Florida had gone to underground power lines some years ago, if that’s true it’s a very good idea for gulf states.

How can good news about Floridians getting power back be so bad to some people (media/libs).
You learned your lesson. You will buy more bourbon next time.
Don’t give Biden any ideas, he’s already blown up two pipelines.
Media pissed off. Story at 11.
Yep, in red state FL all eyes on the Governor. In blue state LA, with Katrina, all eyes on the republican president, and no accountability with the Governor.
Unbiased media.
