Searching for bodies with the Ukrainian captain collecting Russian corpses
The Washington Post ^ | October 1, 2022 | Isabelle Khurshudyan

When there’s a Russian corpse that needs collecting, Capt. Anton gets the call. Sometimes, he’ll receive a text with coordinates of where the body is located. Other times, people offer to lead him to the site.

After single-handedly bagging more than 250 dead enemy soldiers, Anton has created something of a reputation in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region. Rather than spending time and energy searching for corpses, he can now work off referrals.

Last weekend, he followed a car of soldiers down a dirt road in Tsyrkuny, a village outside of Kharkiv. At the edge of a field was a decayed body still in its military uniform. Anton hunched over it, snapping on gloves and sliding his hands into all of the dead soldier’s pockets, looking for the man’s documents. He carefully ran his fingers up and down the body before abruptly stopping at the boot.

“Everyone back away,” Anton warned.

Four of the corpses he’s recovered have been booby-trapped with explosives. This was a false alarm. He took off his gloves and put on a new pair.

He will be very busy based upon the “Road to Death” reports yesterday when the 5th Column left Lyman. Russians had very heavy losses.

Per the article:

Anton got custom lettering for the bumper of one of his cars: “Collector of corpses of Ruzzian soldiers.”

“250 dead enemy soldiers”

That’s some great victory, I guess.

That’s just for one guy. There’s are others out there recovering the Russian dead.

Wow, the posts from the putinistas in this thread are ridiculous.

You putinistas - you’ll say anything to save face. You’ll say, “Don’t believe the source!” You’ll say, “250 is not a lot” as if all the bodies throughout Ukraine throughout the war amounted to only 250. You’ll attack the person posting the article.

What’s wrong with you people? Seriously, you’re acting like the most butthurt little whiners I have ever seen. You used to be MEN. Now you’re just a bunch of whiny bitches.

There is still an excellent chance the Russians will win this war. You know it, and I know it - even though I hope the Ukrainians win and take back every inch of their stolen territory. So why are you so butthurt all of the time? Why are you acting like an offended clique of mean high school girls? Man up God’s sake.

There could be pictures, video and reporting of Putin lying dead in Red Square from every news source on earth, and they would still be bleating “propaganda!” That is their only “argument,” and it was already mindless and dull months ago.

The reference to “ones own kind” isn’t bounded by a country’s border, but by race. So wars such as WWI becomes a war against other Europeans as does the earlier Napoleonic war.

Such saints.

Many of them are just that. You repeat various talking points created by people who want you to hate the people of Ukraine. Even if the accusations you make are true, and they aren't, 99.99% of the people in the Ukraine would not be involved in those activities.

In the USA there are bioweapons research labs. Fort Detrick is an example of that kind of facility. Would a family living on a farm in Oklahoma have anything to do with the research at Fort Detrick? Are they responsible for it?

In case you didn't notice, the people who colluded with the RATs and RINOs to set up President Trump were part of the deep state of the USA. They worked in Washington DC, not Ukraine. The impeachment attempt was done by US citizens sitting in our House and Senate. Blame them, not some farmer in Ukraine who had nothing to do with it.

Seems incongruent

Not at all. The pictures and videos you see of dead Russian soldiers are the ones that were readily found. They died in or getting out of a vehicle, or along a roadside.

Other soldiers died alone, or were wounded and abandoned by their colleagues. They may have crawled into a forest for cover, and then died. Finding their bodies is a good thing so that their families can know what happened to their loved one.

It appears Ukraine is determining their wins by what their Russian death count is rather than recognizing there are battle field losses on both sides but we seldom hear of Ukraine's body count.

That is no way to determine who is ahead in this conflict. Who has control of what areas at any given time will change back and forth before all this is over. Noteworthy however is all four areas of Putin's land - bridge have now officially been claimed as Russian territory which Russia will protect from any military advances against it as an attack against "Russian Citizens".
