At an event during U.N. high-level week in New York, Malpass was asked whether he agreed with the scientific consensus that the “manmade burning of fossil fuels is rapidly and dangerously warming the planet.”

“I don't even know. I'm not a scientist,” Malpass said in response.

His remarks prompted an outcry from environmentalists including Al Gore, who called Malpass a “climate denier.”

I hope everybody notices this insanity. Malpass spoke the truth. He gave a perfectly reasonable and intelligent answer to the "gotcha" question. A miracle!

So Malpass acknowledges that he's not well-read enough to give a definitive answer either way, and what does he get???

He should have said “we are not yet as high as the temperatures of the last interglacial period, and the next truly big volcano could even cool us down. So, I am not sure.” That would have really set ‘em off, despite being 100% accurate.
