U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan says Ukrainian efforts to join NATO should be taken up "at a different time," throwing cold water on the country's desire to join the international alliance and potentially easing Russian tensions as President Vladimir Putin has begun accelerating rhetoric of potential nuclear war.
Ukraine formally applied to join NATO as a military partner on Friday, coinciding with Putin's announcement that Russia would be formally annexing four occupied regions within Ukraine's borders. If accepted, NATO-aligned forces would formally be drawn into the war, pitting forces in the West against the Russian military and, potentially, escalating the conflict.
NATO's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said earlier Friday that while it supports Ukraine's right to pursue an alliance with NATO, all 30 allies need to reach a consensus on membership.

Ukraine joining NATO wasn’t on the table. But is definitely on the table once this war is finished. Putin has made sure of that. Just like he made sure that Sweden and Finland join.
But you said it was never on the table. So Putin can’t use it as a reason to invade Ukraine. So he was lying. That’s a YES. You just won’t admit it.

Part of me has wondered throughout this if the Ukrainian government and people just don’t understand what kind of evil they’ve gotten themselves caught up in. They seem so quaint and naive at times - like these photos…and then true evil like Pelosi and Graham shows up for a gosh-darn visit saying all kinds of loving gushing things into their ears. China, Russia, Iran, crazy Kim even, seem quite hostile and predatory at times for sure…but the West…the West, being right here in it, truly seems like the ultimate in evil…hating both man and God with a never ending seething hatred.
