Renewable energy giant Siemens Gamesa announced it will cut nearly 3,000 jobs as the company tries to turn around its financial fortunes.
The group in a statement on Sept. 29 said, “In order to realize the company’s projections for growth, Siemens Gamesa is working to strengthen specific areas within key leading markets to capitalize on its strong market position in offshore, as well as growing across the entire value chain and driving a project-centric business approach.”
The move is part of a strategy review called Mistral, a program the company announced last year in an effort to make its operations leaner as financial losses have mounted. Siemens Gamesa has struggled as problems have continued with its onshore wind operation.
The wind turbine maker posted large losses in the first quarter of the year, in part due to higher logistics and metals costs. That prompted majority owner Siemens Energy in April to revise downward its financial forecasts for 2022.
The company said about 800 jobs will be lost in Denmark, with another 475 jobs cut in Spain, 300 in Germany, and about 50 in the UK. The company said additional job losses will occur elsewhere in its global operations. The company employs 27,000 workers worldwide.
The company said it expects job cuts will occur over the next two-plus years, and be concluded by 2025...Siemens Energy currently owns about 67% of Siemens Game

If these results were bad because of metals costs in Q1 2022, just wait until they get new metals prices with energy prices soaring all over the world. Energy is a huge input to all metals production.
There's no mention of changes in national subsidies for wind turbines or tax breaks that make wind marginally competitive.
Business models based on getting government subsidies have been "sold" to the taxpayers for years now, but as "green" energy fails in real tome and the economic damage to taxpayers and consumers is seen, the subsidies simply cannot continue. Ergo the business model is proven not rooted in self-supporting industry, but in corporate welfare. Government "support" is not investment, but looting of an economy for the class deemed privileged above others, And it is failing,
And it is failing,
Well..............
When you have failure on this scale...........
You better have a viable solution already on the table.
but no, lifestyle change and job loss is not a solution those are merely symptoms of the failure.
In order to realize the company’s projections for growth, Siemens Gamesa will
..cut nearly 3,000 jobs.

Oh ya, commie as all get out.
Great reply.
You wrote “Government “support” is not investment, but looting of an economy for the class deemed privileged above others.” Exactly right. Government sells it to the runes as “investment” and “creating jobs,” but it is looting the middle class to pay the privileged elites for nonproductive assets. Government does not decide on projects based on sound engineering economics but which constituency gets paid off and vote-buying return.
The scale of the impending failure is beyond imagination. Prices of basic metals, fertilizer, energy are soaring to the atmosphere. Entire economies will collapse. The era of abundance will be over if this “green” revolution isn’t stopped, it will lead to massive revolutions and probably more authoritarian and totalitarian governments worldwide.
Everything is about “decarbonization.” Nobody ever asks “Do we need to reduce use of carbon fuels? Where is the proof we need to do that?” We have reached the point where almost every corporation, government, university and individual person has swallowed that evil “decarbonization” hogwash. It is the “Big Lie” of the century.
…will increase their prices 10X leading to economic collapse, hyperinflation, and mass starvation.
What a bunch of ultra-liberal meaningless gobbledegook. The not-so-hidden hidden message is “Governments stay off our back because we buy into your beloved woke crap. BLM leave us alone because we believe black lives matter. Mr. Lion, please eat us last.”
