The media make me sick.
Where did the “100s dead” come from earlier?
indeed, Australians woke up today to news bulletins saying Biden claims Hurricane Ian could be worst hurricane death toll in Florida ever, and mentioned the 1928 figure of 2,500.
the public will have lost interest by the time the actual death toll is released, probably, and will forever believe thousands died.
Interesting that the only hard news reporting on Hurricane Ian impacts has come from a news agency in ISRAEL.
Yes, and after the Lee County Sheriff’s stupid emotional outburst the Florida authorities seem to be being very careful in the damage and casualty assessment. There have been no more local politicos mouthing off other than the mayor trying to set up a narrative to get the state to rebuild infrastructure bigger and better as a result of the storm. Politicians are always looking for opportunities to push narratives that can get them more power or money. The world could be ending and they would be pushing a pander narrative.
Collectivists love dead bodies.
Who wants to bet 16 of them were old white dudes to cranky to leave who had heart attacks and that medical condition would have happened anyway even without a storm over there heads?
The issue with these kinds of numbers is the government and media counts all deaths during a storm as storm related. We saw the exact same with covid as all flu deaths, for example, magically were counted as covid which made flu deaths drop to practically zero.
The media lies, folks.
IF, pray to God it is, the result is a low number in fatalities, Ron DeSantis should become the Gold Standard in planning for a disaster.
THE MEDIA CANNOT HAVE THAT.
SO, the LIES will begin. Be on the lookout.
If coastal residents had evacuated as advised, there would be ZERO dead, injured, or rescued.
The hurricane had 140 mph winds near the eye at dawn.
Coastal residents who had not already evacuated had at least six daylight hours to drive (or walk) east to avoid the storm surge and the maximum wind.
I’m sorry I have no sympathy for these people. Decide to make your home in a trailer park in southern Florida only miles from the coastline and you didn’t expect this to happen? It’s not a question of if it’s ever going to happen, It’s a question of when it’s going to happen! And you don’t have a common sense knowing that a hurricane is on his way to get out of town when you’re living in a trailer?!
Yesterday some county sheriff from one of the heavily impacted areas was talking about a death count in the hundreds. We should all be thankful that it's likely to be far less than that.
And they could blame every dead Floridian on DeSantis.
The media was cheering for death and destruction not seen since Hurricane Andrew 30 years ago. They're absolutely terrified that Governor DeSantis might handle this disaster with effective leadership and competence.
