Why blow up their own pipelines when they can just cut off the fuel? As a last, desperate act of an autocrat maybe I can see the angle but he doesn’t seem to be in such dire straits at the moment.

I still suspect that some party who thought that this coming winter without enough gas might fracture the alliance against Russia. For example if Germany doesn’t have enough to heat homes and power industry they might bolt or face public pressure. So blasting holes in the pipleline gives them no reason to weaken their stance.

Germany is getting NG through the Russian lines going through..........Ukraine and Poland. At a higher cost, since both countries charge a fee.

They had already cut off the fuel. Line has been closed (but left pressurized) since June.
