Hmm, after Katrina worthless Ray Nagin was on TV blathering about more than 10, 000 fatalities. I would take the sheriff’s hammy or hysterical posturing with a grain of salt.
And yes, I got the response when I said no one should trust Nagin or any of the poor excuses for officialdom of Orleans Parish with ‘well he should know’ responses. Not really, at this point no one has a good estimate. All that is known is the worthless media whores will be swarming in anxious for cheap bathos to inflate.
“at this point no one has a good estimate.”
I would tend to agree with that.
How would anyone know less than 24 hours since landfall.
Sounds a little irresponsible to me.
The media hypes because that’s what sells.
There was panic displayed by some city/county officials and preparedness & grit by others.
The water will recede power will be restored and we will have more facts & less hype. Evacuation is not a panacea and people can be killed by mischance in times of extreme weather no matter what decisions are made. The is no certanty, predictions are inexact & flawed. Nature has the final say and man must cope.
I agree. Same with the word “rescue.” Some are more or less trapped in their homes, but, if they have food and water, they’ll be fine.
