I think this case is all about the incompetence of Sheriff...Greg Ahern...
He apparently hired some people as deputies even though they failed the psych tests...I think that is wrong...
"All four sources who spoke to KTVU on condition of anonymity said that they feel the psychological exam process under Ahern has been flawed. They alleged he often passes his friends and family on these tests to get them hired and nixes the candidates he doesn't like."
Psych test is mandatory for people who want to become peace officers in CA...
CA Government Code 1031(f) requires all California peace officers to be free from any "emotional, or mental condition, including bias against race or ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, which might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a peace officer." Commission Regulation 1955 implements the psychological screening requirements established in Government Code 1031. As described in Commission Regulation 1955, the psychological screening must be conducted by a qualified, licensed, and experienced psychologist or psychiatrist who has met POST's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements.

Based on a number of encounters with law enforcement officers, there are a lot of knuckle draggers.

A reporter for KTVU got the letter from Sheriff to a deputy who is being assigned to a desk duty...
There was an audit of how deputies were hired...Some people were hired as deputies even though they got "D. Not Suited" evaluation from the psychologist...
Sheriff thought that he could hire people with that evaluation...But, the County lawyer told him that he cannot do that according to the CA law...
The shooter deputy was another one of those Amish folks with impulse control problems...allegedly.
Replacing them with sociologists.
Not a war on all LEO. Only on local, county, and state LEO.
Federal LEO get everything and anything they want, are never disciplined for rights violations, and are trained to regard patriotic Americans as terrorists.

Ironically, all psychologists and psychiatrists I have encountered are crazy. Are they planning to put these nut jobs on the streets to protect the people of Alameda County?
