My guess is the CIA at the request of the WH. Elites running Biden want the Great Reset. Knocking out both pipelines removes the immediate possibility of Europe changing its mind not to support freezing or economic collapse. Don’t be surprised if other things get blown up or burned down. The EU is broke and spent all the pension money and needs to kill off all the pensioners or have the Great Reset to wipe out all the debt.

It’s more basic than that. Putin’s strategy is always to make a big mess until he gets what he wants. He’s got a problem though: Europe has energy for the winter and despite the tantrums of Putin’s fan club the EU are not going to freeze.
So what is Putin to do? Nukes obviously are the last bridge. He can’t easily deny dropping one on Ukraine.
So he’ll continue with what he has done since 2014: hybrid war. This time it’s blowing up infrastructure instead of soldiers with no insignia stealing Ukrainian land.
We’ve seen this movie before from KGB Vlad and should not be duped by gaslighting in support of fascist Russia.
Why would Russia sabotage their own pipelines? The gas is their greatest bargaining chip. They don’t need to damage the pipes, they can just shut off the supply without damaging infrastructure.
It makes more sense that some actor doesn’t want anti-Russian actions to wane as the winter comes, e.g. if Germany were to falter on its desire for sanctions in a bid to get gas, the anti-Putin coalition will fracture. So my best guess is someone who wants to coalition to stay together and tough it out is behind it. It could very well be the German government itself, so they can tell their people “there is nothing we can do about it” when they take to the streets.
I may as well add my two cents.
I don’t believe Putin ordered this. He has been using gas to apply pressure to the Europeans. Opening the valves, shutting the valves, claiming maintenance problems. He controls the flow.
Blowing the pipeline takes that away from him. He just lost an important point of leverage.

Ukraine couldn’t or wouldn’t do it without our acquiescence. So I assume it was us, or at least we gave the green light. The only reason Putin would do it would be if he wanted to provoke a NATO response… the idea being that a confrontation with NATO helps him to focus support among Russians. Plus, losing to NATO would not be the humiliation that losing to Ukraine would be. But I lean toward the simpler explanation. Someone took Putin’s energy weapon away from him.
I don’t know who to believe anymore.
What part of the Ukraine navy could have done this? Their submarine fleet?

Europe already has enough gas for the winter. The German PM was in the Middle East signing new long term gas deals. Putin has failed and lost that point of leverage.

And of course the Norwegian pipeline may be just as vulnerable. Whether or not Putin blew the NS pipeline or not, I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t try to take out the Norwegian pipeline. And that would give him the confrontation with NATO, if he wants it.

Brandon and Scholz are weak and crisis averse. No way they did this. I see this as just more hybrid war from Russia. Putin is weak, his corrupt army is falling apart and these type of ops are all Russia is capable of.
It is moronic that “Europe’s gas supplies” would ever be made to be Russian in origin - at least to the degree that they were made to be.
