If a vegetarian diet is so good for you, why do they keep trying to make vegetarian food taste like meat?

Can we say that “Beyond Meat” is ‘dying on the vine’ ?????

Perhaps they should change their advertising slogan to: "Nobody beats our meat"

I remember when Burger King rolled out the “Impossible Whopper”. And they offered a deal, buy an Impossible Whopper, get a real Whopper for a buck more.

So, curious, I tried it. The Impossible Whopper wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great, either. . .

And then I bit into the real Whopper (same toppings, etc).

There was no comparison. . . real meat wins every time. . .

Incidentally, was getting groceries at the local Wally World last weekend. Spot shortages in all the freezers and refrigerated sections. Except for the Vegan Substitutes section. Totally full, totally untouched. . . .

Just blame the consumers. They’re bigots. It works so well for Disney and Amazon.

Morningstar Farms is pretty good, if soy-based fake meat is what you want.

It is owned by Kellogg's though (Big Cereal).

Speakin' of big meat... Who gets to be offended here? Should I be offended? I feel an opportunity to be offended, but maybe my black neighbor who likes balogna could be equally offended...

The stupidest part is ..they think they are the answer a question no one is actually asking.
What is beyond meat?
And will people pay as much for bugs and stuff as a good cut of steak?
Except for a handful of loony leftist that is.

I’ve said all along that rumors about what’s in it could kill this crap off. Bugs, weeds, grass clippings, compost, manure, etc.

It isn’t that the product is woke. If the product tasted the same as meat and was cheaper it would sell. But having a product that identifies as something it isn’t doesn’t work any more than a man who identifies as a woman.

I tried a plant based burger. I couldn’t finish it.

BTW, I had a coworker friend who took a trans woman home from a bar and had sex. He didn’t know at the time but figured it out and she whipped out his transition photo album. I asked if the relationship had lasted. He said the man was a caracature of a woman and the whole thing felt pointless.

"...Lawn clipping burgers are the EVs of hamburgers. Fake meat is like fake news..."

Jumpin' Jehosevat! This means we could have self-cooking hamburgers soon! If they can keep them from self-combusting before we are ready to eat them, this could be a real business opportunity!

I always wondered why vegan dishes tried to mimic meat. After a horrible case of gout now I know. I never tried beyond meat and hope I will never have to.

They always want to make something not meat taste like meat.

They don't ever take a meat product and advertise it as tasting like tofu.
