Didn’t read the article, bur van den Shovel gets it right for once.
Going to be hard to ‘gear up’ when you are economically imploding and your national debt continues to balloon past 30 trillion dollars.....
And not just unneeded war. Spending trillions to colonize the moon or mars is no better. Time to “live within our means” instead of frivolously throwing away our Grandkids future prosperity and enslaving them.
LOL, Katrina vanden Heuvel? Seriously? When has she ever been right?
The January 6 Committee’s Audience Won’t Match Watergate’s. But It Should.- Republicans have already accepted Trump’s “big lie” that the television landscape has changed.

President Donald Trump’s greatest dereliction of duty — his disgraceful denial of climate change
Trumps Most Dangerous Betrayal Yet
30 percent of my paycheck is take by the federal government, the stat of Michigan, and the local governments therein before I even see it. I could almost buy a new car in the lower price range with what is taken out of my check at the end of the year. That is before inflation eats up money I’d normally try to put into savings each month. The federal government spies on its own citizens, and calls veterans (among many others) domestic terrorists in waiting. We have unchecked invasion ongoing at the southern border. We have unelected billionaires trying to influence government and destroy our economy, our food supply, our supply chains under the guide of some contrived climate emergency. So, yeah, totally concerned about what’s going on elsewhere in the world.
What would George Washington do?
KATRINA VANDEN HEUVEL

Say no morw!
Don't want to go fight in Vietnam? No problem! Just head out into the street and support the enemy!
The federal govenrment has kept growing and spending and ignoring the Constitution? All we care about is whether we get our Egg McMuffin in time.
The Soviets - I mean Russians - invade a sovereign country and kill thousands? Not our problem..
The Federal government arrest and imprisons Trump supporters for an enthusiastic demonstration that is labelled as an "insurrection" and holds them indefinitely. Wonder what's on TV tonight?
The FBI has finally stooped to arrest a father of seven for pushing an abortion escort who was aggressive with his young son. Crickets.
It is impossible to underestimate the average commitment of our fellow citizens.
“US President Joe Biden’s administration will soon release its National Security Strategy”
My prediction for the new ‘strategy’: “If Russia doesn’t leave all of we deem to be Ukraine, then we’ll nuke Moscow”
Putin has made it clear that this is two-way street, and he certainly has the means to do just that.
I’m just glad that Trump is gone and replaced by RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP, as Trump was going to get us into a nuclear war.
Biden, Blinken and Milley are doing everything that can to make sure there is no cold war. Now a hot nuclear war in Europe, that’s a different story.

‘Russia Counterblow, NYT Admits Ukraine Massive Losses in Stalled Offensive; UK Teeters on The Brink’

The “Kharkiv counteroffensive” was a sham.
There is no such thing.
According to Democracy Now, The Guardian, and others the Ukes gained 1,000 sq km. That’s it, not Zel’s claimed 6k. The size of Rhode Island. BBC reported that Russia has 1/5 of Ukraine, so the Ukes gained back less than 1%.
Kiev regime losses included numerous heavy armor, an acceptable trade for a few towns.
This 1984-style propaganda from Ukraine is past old. Ukraine’s soldiers can achieve nothing as it is foreign soldiers supposedly being “volunteers” that have made scant gains.
There was no Kharkiv counteroffensive as there was little defending forces there but yet Ukraine lost too much heavy armor to make a few villages gained worth it.
4/17
The Guardian, Democracy Now, and others reported that a mere 1,000 square kilometers were retaken by Ukraine, not Zel’s claimed 6000 sq km.
The BBC reported that about 1/5 of Ukraine has been conquered by Russia. So Ukrainians retaking 1km square kilometers of 1/5 of Ukraine turns out to be less than 1% of 1/5 of Ukrainr, an area the size of Rhode Island, and all the while Russia has made recent advancements into areas of southern Ukraine.
Ukraine took back land the size of Rhode Island (as Russia took more land in the south) and Ukrainian leaders have said publicly they are “worried” if they can even keep it.

Zelensky Says Ukraine Has Retaken 6,000 Square KM, But Army “Worried” About Defending It

Just one of many that reported on these leaked Ukrainian documents put all over the net. This was from some time back that leaked Ukrainian documents showed Ukraine has lost 50% of its trained military, so who knows how bad it is now.
Unconfirmed leaked data from the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Staff:
- The AFU are only 43-48% complete;
- medical workers at the limit of their strength: the seriously wounded are transported to Europe;
- small arms and bulletproof vests are not enough;

REPLAY: Energy Protests in Lubmin, Germany
9/25/22
Live from Lubmin on Sunday, September 25, as people take to the streets to protest against current energy policies, skyrocketing prices, and inflation. Protesters demand the immediate opening of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The Nord Stream 2 project, a second pipeline pumping gas from Russia to Germany, was unilaterally suspended by Berlin in February following the conflict in Ukraine.

Ukraine ‘shells’ occupied areas amid vote
9/26/22
“Voting in internationally criticised referendums for four Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories to become part of Russia has continued into its third day despite shelling by Ukrainian forces. ...”
https://www.yarrawongachronicle.com.au/world/ukraine-shells-occupied-areas-amid-vote/
This shelling during voting explains the presence of Russian soldiers in numerous voting areas.
The presence of troops in the voting areas would allay the fears of people voting. They would be voting unprotected in case of Ukrainian troops attacking them, or attempting to arrest them, especially so if any voting areas were close(r) to the battle lines.
The rised hand assembly vote in Kosovo in 2008 for independence wasn’t even close to a referendum (which is taking place in Donetsk, Luhansk, etc), went against the Serbian constitution, thus was without the permission of Serbian authorities, and yet was hastily accepted by the west/NATO/EU.
