Airforce is finding Hurricane Strength winds in the center of Ian.

I haven’t yet heard Greta “Scoldilocks” Thunberg’s comments about this hurricane being caused by patriarchy-made Globull Warming.
Both Isabel in the Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore and Sandy near New York City had only tropical force winds when each caused a huge amount of damage due to so much water being pushed onto the shore. That amount of water plus hurricane force winds could be devastating.
i would t want to be on the road in florida the next few days. wherever they are going to be they should get there and hunker down
i am lucky with this one they will be ok. the ones with the most resources are in gainesville so they should be fine. The ones I really worry about are in naples but they have a ckear path out if they want - my son lives in boca do the have a clear route out away from the storm.
Yeah, outside of really egregious examples of weather fear porn, forecasters are in a tricky spot because they have to overcome normalcy bias without going over the top. Prior to the 2009 Mid-South ice storm our NWS office was very “matter-of-fact” about what was coming (and darn accurate with the forecast, too), but IMO did not stress with enough urgency just how serious a calamity was heading in. A lot of people were caught off guard, partially because they’d never experienced an ice storm of such severity.
Cantore is in Clearwater Bch, I-75 will be a parking lot come Wed morning. People in flood zones in Tampa-S. Pete need to get ready to move now.
Been 100 years since Tampa seen a storm like this, even a close brush will put many areas under water.
According to Yahoo Hurricane tracking, the target area is now sarasota/manatee counties below Tampa, but, you never know with these things.
Well on my way down to my place in FL. The wally world in Valdosta, GA was pretty picked over Saturday night. Hoping it heads West and doesn’t impact me not too far from Tampa.
Well damn. I said if he’s in town we’re gone. Now I have to get packing. The rush will be on after the 11am bulletin.
Thanks for posting. I’ve been looking for a good reference. SC here too.
You have to wait for him to be holding a lamppost before running.
If it’s Geraldo I cheer for the hurricane.
How well does an electric car do in about a foot or 2 of water from flooding? lol
The “Hurricane Phoenix “ scenario is a distinct possibility.
Glad to read your family should be okay. Prayers up for those in Ian’s path (wherever it may be) and hoping for least possible destruction.
Amen and amen
Awesome Link! Thank you!
I’m guessing not too good after the batteries are totally submerged. Best thing to do is to steer clear and wait for the chemical reaction show. Since it has to happen hope it occurs at night and have your camera ready.
Yes, that would be good. I’ve seen snippets, and that’s enough for me. There are typically snippets about wooden piers getting smashed to bits by wave action, as well as canopies getting ripped off of gas station pump islands.
My concern is the storm surge. I have close friends on St Pete Beach, so a few inches will make all the difference.
These moonbats think there’s NEVER been a major hurricane ever before.
Someone should tell them what caused the Spanish gold and silver laden galleons to sink in the Caribbean and Atlantic in the 1500’s and 1600’s.
