Prayers up for everyone. Stay safe and, if possible, get out of the way.
11 :10.......DeSantis just said it’s:
... Ian’s tracking at 500 miles wide - 24 miles an hour - winds at 80 miles. Expect storm surge on Gulf coast.
Looks like the makings of a nothing burger storm to me BUT it will be the main focus for the next week to give shade to the disaster that is our government

Wishing you good luck and hope you and yours stay safe.
We are hunkering down. No real place to go right now and we have all the necessaries for power outage and food. We are hoping it goes further and further west. Florida is going to get it no matter what.

Tropical Storm wind speed probability < hurricane. I lived in FL for 25 years and if I was still there, I wouldn't be too worried about this one. Cuba will take some strength and organization out of it. People right smack on the Coast will probably get some storm surge and wind but they're used to that.
I’d be moving what I could to second foor.

I like Weather Nation on Pluto TV (via roku)
We are on 3 acres on a hill. We are not worried so much of flooding, but the wind. We have lots of trees and we are at the end of the electrical grid for our area. Have a generator that will handle 1 refrigerator and chest freezer so it all depends on how long electric might be out. I always say...it is what it is and we will be ok.
I have narrowly averted several large hurricanes in my lifetime. I missed Hugo back in the day and, oddly enough, I was scheduled to be in Savannah GA for a work conference mid-late this week BUT I decided not to go b/c I’m retiring from this gig mid November. Hmmmm.
“ in the same place . . . . yawn.”
I guess that’s east to say for people who don’t live there.
I don’t , but know that a Cat 4 hurricane can be devastating .
Nothing to yawn at.
Been in Fla for 90% of my life.
Over the past 20 years I’ve noticed the weather media has the bad habit of exaggerating these storms.
Then after it’s way weaker than they were running around claiming it was gonna be they say they were just giving the “worst case scenario”.......the weather channel did just that this morning.....a little irresponsible if you ask me.
Grand caymen beach LIVE CAM .......trees are swaying
The new Hurricane Center track shows it grazing Tampa then degrading to tropical storm before the eye comes ashore somewhere around Steinhatchee. The scary part is how slow moving it is. Looks like 24+ hours of pumping water into Tampa Bay.
Well there’s uncertainty how powerful the winds will be ..... once it passes Cuba you can bet all eyes will be on Ian to see just what it’s going to do - and how much it intensifies.
When my brother moved to Florida he made certain to purchase his home on higher ground because of the Hurricane threats. He has a couple generators as well. Plus hurricane shutters. He’s been there 30 yrs and so far only lost a portion of his yard fencing. However he has said when they hit it’s no fun when they go slow and endless rain and howling.
