Can’t believe people hould even think Russians aren’t ready for winter for their troops! It’s Russia for crying out loud! People just aren’t thinking!
Beyond me other than them being simply anti-Russian sentiment/rhetoric or just flat out being uninformed.
This isn't the Soviet Union. Even then, they took millions of casualties before Zhukov turned things around.
No one in Russia thought they were going to invade Ukraine. Putin was the only man who thought of the invasion. So the Russian army is caught with their pants down.

Right now the Russian army has trouble moving enough supplies to their front line troops. That includes food as well as ammunition and ordnance for their artillery. In some places Russian soldiers have been using local food supplies, but those supplies are dwindling and may run out soon.
In cold weather everyone needs more calories per day, and some way to generate heat. Sitting in a trench at 20 degrees F is not easy without somewhere heated to warm up. Making heat means delivering some kind of fuel as well as food.
Russia does not have enough trucks, or the ability to operate them without the trucks being attacked to support the troops they have in the field now. Adding more soldiers will just make the truck shortage worse.
Also, in the winter heated bunkers or tents, or vehicles stand out even more to IR sensors in aircraft and drones. Hiding from artillery in a tree line is hard enough now, with leaves and brush, but in the winter it is impossible.
The problem for Russia is not what you think it is.
