I guaran-damn-tee you that if the situation was reversed and the Vice-President/President of the Senate was a Democrat, there would be no hesitation for that person to act like a leader rather than as a bureaucrat going through the motions; that is, who is "just doing his job", although I admit that your sources at NPR, CNN, MSNBC, et al. would have reported the facts much differently. On this point I think we can agree.

Actually, it DID happen before … in 2016, for example. And in 2000 — when VP Al Gore acted like “a bureaucrat going through the motions” even though he himself was the losing presidential candidate who was claiming that the election was stolen from him.
