A self made billionaire without a political background gets himself elected to the highest office of the world and he has nameless, faceless hindsight geniuses pretending to know what his "biggest mistake" is.

According to some attorneys I heard on the radio and a couple I’ve talked to, Pence failed at his job.
Reading the votes into the record is treating it like an event. Which it isn’t.
It is part of the electoral process and according to some very good attorneys, and a former member of the House of Representatives, the Vice President has the authority to send a questionable slate of electors back to the state for verification. A good example would have been Nevada or Arizona or any state with suspected irregularities.
The Vice President is the last line of defense before the election is officially called and the courts are involved.
I think Trump’s biggest mistake was Jeff Sessions as AG!
Sessions’ failure to do his job set the stage for everything that followed. Including the need for Pence to do anything in counting the electoral ballots.
Yes, he did volunteer, but weeks later, when Liz Cheney took Mike up on his ‘generous’ offer of cooperation, he got cold feet and walked it all back. Liz was, of course steamed, having already bragged that she had secured ex-VP-Pence’s intention.
Or maybe they’re just politically astute. If left to his own devices, Trump probably would have selected Jared Kushner — or even Michael Cohen — as his running mate.

Well if you look at the thousands of people attending Trump rallies and figure none of them will ever vote for Pence, he doesn’t stand a chance. Go home Mike. Nobody likes you.
A “questionable” slate of electors is one that comes from a state that submits multiple certified slates of electors, or from a state where a person in a position of authority to speak on behalf of a state notifies Congress that the electors submitted to Congress may not be valid. None of that applied in 2020.
