Economic Freedom and Political/Personal Freedom are inextricably intertwined.

You cannot have one without the other. Which is why Socialism is Tyranny.

There is no way around it.

What??! Are you trying to tell me the National Socialist German Workers Party wasn’t a bunch of Libertarians? I’m shocked, shocked I tell you!

Exactly. It’s like saying just a little bit of tyranny will be enough, except once it begins all so-called Socialism or Progressivism, or whatever you call it, it ALWAYS ends up in Authoritarian/Totalitarian Dictatorship.

Socialist Herbert Marcuse and a few other academics jumped on the Nazis-were-right-wing fantasy as soon as Hitler invaded the USSR.

Yes, he authorized and implemented MANY collectivist policies. He was all about the primacy of the collective.

I also think that one of the BIG reasons why everyone opposed to Democrats are made out to be NAZIs. NAZI’s were Bolsheviks great mortal enemy. When Democrats demonize everyone as a NAZI they’re deferring to their Bolshevik mindset.

“Sorry Liberals, But The Nazis Were Progressive Leftists”

What were the communists they were competing with?

One of the problems is trying to fit everything on a single line. One of the best examples was a two dimensional grid with social freedom on one axis and economic freedom on the other. Libertarians and true anarchists (not the brick throwing leftist thugs) had high scores for both. Communists claim high social and low economic scores, but in reality end up low for both. Fascism ends up similarly. Socialism is a little higher on the social freedom score, mainly because they aren't at the crushing all opponents phase yet.

Unsurprisingly, since it was out out by a libertarian group the quiz to find out where you were on the graph skewed people towards freedom on both axes.

… but Hitler wasn’t a vegetarian because he loved animals, he was a vegetarian because he hated plants.

Good point. I’d argue one would need at least three axes, for a three-dimensional array, with ‘social order’ as the third axis - complete chaos at one extreme, and perfect regimentation at the other, again, with some happy medium somewhere.

Like it or not, human beings are social creatures - not hive critters like ants or bees, but still organisms that are interdependent, both at a social and economic level. Among the many mistakes commies and doctrinaire leftists make is a tunnel-vision view on social order, yet another route to totalitarianism.

The social commentator and religious writer Michael Novak pointed out in his Templeton Award address many years ago that among the most important advances in Western Civilization was the development of not just personal freedom and economic freedom, but also cultural freedom - and as the first two start to deteriorate, it’s hardly surprising that we see a rise in “cancel culture” and related crap.

Yep; today’s democrats are Nazis.

No question. They are in your face Nazis. If they are still in the democrat party they are a Nazi.

Bolsheviks. Basically cut from the same cloth.
