Billionaire’s Row is just south of Central Park. Fifty-
Seventh Street and environs. Nowhere near Hudson Yards or the theatre district.

That view is shows how unnatural, empty of life, and dystopian urban development has become.

It's like looking into a electronic component recycling bin.

Perhaps the worst part of this story is that a generation of NYC kids is being taught that therapy is the solution to the world’s problems.

I am a mental health professional and I totally agree with you. There is nothing pathological in the reaction these kids have to being surrounded by clearly intimidating, disordered and threatening behavior.

I would be asking the parents, "What part of this do you control? Answer: where you choose to live and what you choose to expose your children to." Yet one mother, after explaining that her children regularly encounter public fornication, masturbation, defecation and urination goes on to say, "We have considered leaving the city."

Considered? What in hell is there to consider?

Another woman says, “A woman … started yelling at us in the car. My daughter was nervous about getting out of the car and crossing the street to go to school.” Should I infer that you intended to let her walk a gauntlet of crazies to get into her school?

Near the end of the article it says, "Some families are coping by picking up and leaving." Adults might want to stay to fight it but for people with kids that is the only sane response.

“My kid asks me to move,” Hamill said. “We have considered leaving the city. It’s hard.”

No, actually. It isn’t. You’re endangering your own child. You know, the one you didn’t abort, for whatever reason. This kid wins Life’s Lottery having you as her Mom?

Oh, and keep voting for Socialist Democrats, Katie! *SNORT*

“My kid asks me to move,” Hamill said. “We have considered leaving the city. It’s hard.”

The daughter is 7 years old, according to the article. When she gets old enough to move out on her own, I wonder if she will stay in the city because she got used to all of this, or find someplace that is the exact opposite of what she grew up in.

And right now, it sounds like the 7YO has a better perspective on life than the mother.

Yes!!!

If you don’t like your neighborhood, change your neighborhood. Either fix the one you live in, or get out.

Don’t just stay and accept your status as a victim, and then get therapy for being a victim.

What kind of lesson does this teach a child?

“It’s kind of sad.”

I have never understood the appeal of living in a major metro area.

I haven’t had neighbors (that I could see from my house) in 31 years now, and I never will if I can help it.

And I LIKE people. Don’t get me wrong. I just don’t want to deal with them on a minute-by-minute basis. ;)

No neighbors within view? I’m envious!

When we moved to Indiana, one of the homes we were seriously looking at was on 3 acres, with a LOOOONG driveway, so yeah couldn’t see neighbors from there. Unfortunately, the house was a little wonky. Poor layout, and the kitchen wasn’t great, which is a MUST for me. Plus my husband reminded me that he would be traveling a lot, and what if we had a big snowstorm while he was gone. Visions of The Shining went through my head, so we didn’t make an offer on that house.

We opted for a home in a neighborhood at the end of a culdesac. Neighbors on the front, woods and a creek in the back. Just an acre and a half, but at least it’s something. You would never know we’re in a neighborhood when you look out to the back.

The funny thing about my husband’s prediction of snow was spot on. That first year we had 63 inches of snow! Didn’t own a snowblower that year, but got one before the next winter came. I shoveled a LOT! Oh, and while he was out of town in business, a pipe froze and then burst. Thank goodness for neighbors that year when we were new to the area!

I still want more land, so if we ever move, we will be looking for more acreage.

Much cheaper solution: move to a nicer place outside NY. Bet this never occurred to this idiot woman. By exposing her poor kid to all this NYC cesspool behavior, she is abusing her by remaining there.

People should get out of NYC, a lot better places to live for your peace of mind.

I moved from LI to a small Kansas town. Had the same experience.

Great view. Too high up to see anyone doing anything antisocial.

From a distance, NYC has its own beauty. Too bad most of the people suck.

Hudson Yards is a quite different story, huge beautiful new office buildings in the thirties for which the contracts were signed before the pandemic and had which had to go up anyway. Some now sitting empty and losing lots of money for the owners.

Yay. Housing for the millions of new people sneaking across the border.

We have 13,000 plus now from the recent invasion in NYC alone.

One of the goals of the Dems is to destroy New York City.

You’ve got the best of both worlds. :)

While I can’t see them, I DO have plenty of neighbors on adjacent farms. Never thought I’d have an Emergency Contact in my phone that is an Amish man, LOL!

He has bailed me out a few times over the years. :)

More news from Hell’s Kitchen:

Victim attacked with chair outside NYC pizzeria says it will change his life

“A lifelong New Yorker who had a chair hurled at him by a maniac outside a Hell’s Kitchen pizzeria said he’s now afraid to go out at night.

Vincent Buccino, 64, was sitting outside Amore Pizza Cafe on West 58th Street and Ninth Avenue and chatting on his phone after taking a nighttime walk around his neighborhood when a man yelled out “Bitch!” and randomly chucked the chair at his head.”
