Trump solidified his base between 2016 and 2020. Most of those who voted for him reluctantly voted for him enthusiastically in 2020. Those who supported him enthusiastically in 2016 were still on board with him in 2020. On top of that he gained an additional 12 million more votes from people who didn’t vote for him in 2016.
The population of rabid Trump hating Democrats didn’t sit out 2016. They voted for Clinton. So who is this population of 16 million Trummp haters who didn’t like Biden but hated Trump even more yet didn’t hate him enough to vote against him in 2016? Keep in mind that Trump’s approval among independents in general, and blacks and latino’s in particular increased between 2016 and 2020. It just doesn’t make sense.
Because he is polarizing. There are people who really like him and therefore want to vote for him, and people who really hate him and therefore want to vote against him. And the polarization got worse from 2016 to 2020.
Additionally, because of Covid, a bunch of states allowed vote by mail. That did make it easier to commit fraud, but it also made it easier for people to cast legitimate votes. So, we got a lot more total votes.

Nothing about voting matters because leftists own the ballot box and conservatives did NOTHING to secure the vote via VOTER ID.
