DeSantis is hot. He'll appeal to the independents. And the base likes him.
Trump still appeals to the base. But he won't win the general election alone with just the loyalists.
And we haven't even started on the discussion of dirty tricks by the Democrats. It'll be open season on Trump once again in 2024, fair or not.
Our Governor is not that stupid. He has stated he does not plan on running for President in 2024. I believe him. THe only thing that might change that is if President Trump does not run and he gets so much pressure to run from the Repubs across the country he can’t fight it.
He's never pledged to not run in '24. He's also never pledged to not run if trump runs.
Every time he's asked this question, Ron DeSantis deflects that right now he's only concerned with winning his re-election as Governor.
A wise move, of course. If he said before the election that he wants to run for president, Crist would blast him with "RON DESANTIS DOES NOT WANT TO BE YOUR GOVERNOR!" attack ads.
And he's my governor as well. I voted for him in '18, I'll vote for him again in November, and God willing, I'll vote for him two years after that.

Actually, Hillary ran in '08 when everyone thought she would've been a shoe-in for the nomination. Had she beaten Obama in the primaries, I have no doubt she'd have been elected president in '08.
By 2016, she was a has-been. Her time had passed and she couldn't shake the stench of corruption that drove moderate Obama voters to Trump.

You know honestly when I look back at trump’s first two years, he did some good things. But he wasn’t able to get 100% republican Congress support. As horrible as Biden is, he seems to be able to get everything he wants out of this Congress. Why is that? Why was Trump unable to get all the things he wanted to done but Biden can? In the last two years, what did Trump accomplish?
