With the midterms less than two months away, President Biden will no longer be able to tout falling gas prices.
For the first time in nearly 100 days, gas prices rose, up to $3.681 on Wednesday from $3.674.
After sinking every day for more than three months, US gas prices edged higher – by a penny – to $3.68 a gallon, on average Wednesday, according to AAA.
That ends 98 consecutive days of falling pump prices, the second-longest such streak on record going back to 2005.
The last time the national average price for gasoline rose was June 14, when it hit a record of $5.02. Prices fell every day since then and Thursday would have marked the 100th straight day of declines. (CNN)
“All streaks have to end at some point, and the national average for a gallon of gas has fallen $1.34 since its peak in mid-June,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement this week. “But there are big factors tugging on global oil prices—war, COVID, economic recession, and hurricane season. All this uncertainty could push oil prices higher, likely resulting in slightly higher pump prices.”
Biden and Democrats had been taking victory laps on falling gas prices, which saw national averages peak to over $5 per gallon earlier this summer.

The administration will keep right touting the lower prices, get real, silly writer. And the press will play along.
Pretty sure we differ on that. 😎👍
If you looked the article you’d see exactly how much has been sold and what’s left.
But, I know, Freeper tradition is to remain not knowing.
“Pretty sure the SPR releases ain’t having much effect on anything
I’m pretty sure you are wrong about that.”
The estimated reduction in the price is 38 cents a gallon.
Here in SoCal at my local corner gas stations. the price is $5.95 a gallon for regular. Last week I paid $4.86 at Costco. It has gone up around 50 cents per gallon in the last few weeks.

Graph of every state right here. California, as always, is highest in the nation.
Your recent increase is the extra cost of winter blend hitting the market.
Funny how the narrative changed when gas prices were dropping. To anyone on that bandwagon, I simply say, “prices are still 50% higher today than when I last filled up on the day Biden was inaugurated.”
I filled up yesterday at $2.879. But on Election Day 2020, I filled up at $1.439. Both were here in East Texas, where we have our own oil field, AND our own refinery!
Well, that does help. LOL!
The price fell because that’s when senile Joe started depleting the strategic oil supply which has now stopped,it’s all manipulation folks

I paid $2.96 a gallon last night to fill up my truck. I dread what is coming this fall and winter. I’ll end up driving to work, church and grocery store if I have any $ left over. But my liberal friends assure me this is all still Trump’s fault. But when I say to them, we were energy independent when Trump left office and now we are not and begging our enemies for more oil, who could have done that??? No coherent response is forthcoming. Then I thank for them for raping my wallet and retirement with their votes for THEIR president.
Well Trump or as an acquaintance told us, “That dang putin is really stickin’ it us!”. We were speechless............
Whisper like a wackjob
damn, and i’m still bitching about $3.80...
How many bitchens/gal?
Never got below $4.58 in Yerington, been going UP for nearly two weeks and was $4.88 a couple of days ago.
I expect back to $5.00+ by the middle of Oct.
I want our Nevada refinery expanded and to be freed from dependance on CA for fuel.
Yes, we do have a small Nevada refinery.
