Like a lot of Pennsylvanians, I too have been following the situation concerning drop boxes in Lehigh County.
As the drama there continues to play out, one thing we have learned is that observers at drop boxes do keep voters honest by ensuring they comply with the law, which states a person can only return his or her own ballot.
Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin deployed county detectives and video surveillance of Lehigh County’s five drop boxes during the latest primary election, despite objections from Democrats and the Pennsylvania Department of State.
This move came after Martin discovered 288 people deposited more than one ballot into drop boxes during the November 2021 election.
Having plainclothes detectives at drop box locations worked and Martin reported “there were zero instances observed of more than one ballot being deposited” during the 2022 primary.
But now, Lehigh County has announced it will open five drop box locations without any form of security to ensure the election law is being followed. This is despite a pending lawsuit on the matter.
The move by the county boggles the mind. Why revert to a system that allowed the law to be broken when a more secure system proved successful?
Martin’s initiative also disproved Wolf, who in his veto message of the Voting Rights Protection Act (House Bill 1300), falsely claimed “onerous requirements” would eliminate the use of ballot drop boxes.

Madness.
Drop boxes shouldn’t exist.
NO they should not exist. If people can’t drag their lazy asses to the polls to vote, then YOU DON’T VOTE. It’s a simple civic responsibility. If your too IRRESPONSIBLE to vote in person, then you are too IRRESPONSIBLE to Vote.
I’m a fan of youtube channels like “audit the audit” and “lackluster”.
It is completely to video record people in public places. It seems that with only 5 boxes, people could be stationed at every one with a camera on a stick recording the box and people walking up to it. They could even call out to folks that they are depositing too many ballots.
It would not be bad if each one also had a partner conceal carrying. I remember when there were a bunch of armed (with bats and stuff) black gang members at polling places in a few inner city neighborhoods and many saw it as voter intimidation.
Drop boxes shouldn’t exist.

I agree but in some cases/instances they or mail needs to be
available. 2020 was an abnormal voting situation due to the
lock downs, etc. That is pasted and hopefully this country
can get back to some for of normalcy.
I was in the military back in the 1960s and we had mail ballots
to use if we wanted to. With today’s internet technology that
basically removes the need to exist now, imo.
Cops: We used unmarked cars to monitor the speed of vehicles and found nobody was speeding. Therefore, we’re going to open these five new roads and not bother to monitor people’s speed.
Yeah, that should work out just fine.
I only hope they are lying to bait people.
That’s the bottom line. And it begs the question, can we trust the quality of the political opinion of such a person?
Thanks Dr. S. I’m glad we at least have Martin.

Quite a few trees missing their Democrats, it seems.
I suspect that these will be surveilled by "interested parties", and that Gauleiter Garland's jesters at The Deportment of Jesters will go ape about it.

Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
True but Dems will just drive them in truck loads in middle of the night like in Michigan at the TCF center.
Good article.
