I saw a movie over the weekend about Robert the Bruce of Scotland.
The HRH Prince and son of the king, Edward as I recall led the English Army against the Scots. He captured a wounded Scot Clan leader and hung him by the neck. He then took his dagger and drew out his guts hanging from the hanging body.
There was no quartering however
