Call China if you are serious about climate change: Maybe we should pass a climate change bill saying that the U.S. will do nothing until the China does something

It's been a "Twilight Zone" of a political week, from James Taylor singing "Fire and Rain" to cheer the Inflation Reduction Act to our Beto O'Rourke in New York looking for money to the Democrats in full "Daydream Believer" mode to pursue their climate change agenda.

It's hard to take these folks seriously. James Taylor's song was about anguish, as I recall — exactly how the stock market felt that day. Beto keeps trailing in the polls so maybe he was looking for a job at MSNBC conveniently headquartered there. And who can follow them on climate change anymore? I believe that there is climate change, but these "climatistas" are their own worst enemies. This is a reminder of their delusions from Rupert Darwall:

Democrats are in the grip of an irrational ideology that prevents them from seeing the world as it is. They cannot bring themselves to recognize that three decades of UN climate talks have failed. The growth of non-Western emissions means the UNFCCC's objective of stabilizing greenhouse gas emissions is no nearer being attained than it was three decades ago.

If Democrats were serious about climate, they would push for a fresh approach. Instead, they pass climate legislation that does nothing for the climate but inflicts immense harm on the economy and America's strategic position in an increasingly perilous world. What did Albert Einstein say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?

Thank you, Mr. Darwall. Thank you for pointing out in exquisite detail that the culprit here is China, not Texas or Alaska:

Among non-Western nations, China's carbon dioxide emissions tripled, and its share of global emissions rose from 12 percent in 1992 to 31 percent in 2020. The math is inescapable:

The ChiComs say that they have contributed to decreasing carbon emissions more than any other country due to their “One Child Policy” which they say has resulted in 300,000,000 fewer humans to contribute to CO2 levels.

Not kidding. They say this with a straight face.

I wonder if anyone asks them if their murders of their own people, their murders of minorities such as the Uyghers, and the rampant murder of female infants contributes as well to decreasing their carbon emissions.

This article accepts the leftist paradigm.

CHicoms not reducing “carbon” is the least of the problems the ChiComs cause. In fact it’s not important at all.

It has NEVER been about ‘climate change’ or ‘global warming’.

It’s always been about control. Control of the economy, control of the people, control of the government, control over everything that anyone can think of.

Talking about ‘climate change’ only gives more encouragement to the people who fabricated the crisis.

The Chicoms are going to use their monopoly on building windmill blades, solar panels, and lithium batteries to allow them to claim “carbon credits” from everyone else who is stupid enough to actually go along with the economy-killing New Green Deal plans!

The Chicoms will continue to spew more crap into the air (save for India) while American-leftists slap each other on the back because China is buying carbon credits, which still won’t be enough to actually stop their pollution!

This whole carbon credit/offset/good electricity for EVs, bad electricity for A/Cs crap is like peeing into the wind and proclaiming you are taking a shower!

Unfortunately, it will mostly be American taxpayers taken to the cleaners beause this whole debacle!!

Ban imports from any country that doesn’t meet our standards. Level the playing field.

I'm serious about global warming. I'm seriously happy I live in the Modern Warm Period instead of one of the cooling periods like the Little Ice Age, Dark Age, or Greek Dark Age.

It amazes me how we let the Democrat Party cult brainwash their followers into hating a good time to be alive.

I agree wholeheartedly with your rant against bull crap "carbon credits", though I disagree that China will claim they're creating them. To date China has shown no need to pretend to play by the "Paris Accords" type stuff.

Keep in mind that new conservative hero Elon Musk is still pushing for the gubment to create more carbon taxes, while also saying we shouldn't abandon fossil fuels, so that even more entities will have to buy fake carbon credits from Tesla like they're already doing. Oil refineries having to buy RIN credits adds to the cost of gas at the pump: I've read it's 75¢ to $1 per gallon.

I don’t think they will until everyone pushes...and at that point, they will simply say, without us, you wouldn’t be able to even buy those fake “carbon credits” and they will have the world by the short and curlies!!

The Chicoms are playing to win...they couldn’t care less if the rest of the world suffers!

No one bothers to mention the thousands of coal fired plants being built every year over there.

"Ban imports from any country that doesn’t meet our standards. Level the playing field."

That or increase tariffs on goods imported from these non-compliant countries - something approximating the costs to attain the levels they force domestic companies to achieve. As they improve, the tariffs are reduced.

As it is, our climate-alarmism policies are making US industry non-competitive on the global stage. We've gone full-circle, back to the pre-Trump era, where Fed policy actually encourages companies to move off-shore. It's not just a little encouragement either - we're driving the herd over the cliff.

At this moment, China has over 100 coal fired brand new power plants under construction. That is 2nd cheapest form of energy behind only htdro power. While we are moving to the most expensive and unreliable form of energy called green energy. That will be a big competitive disadvantage to US manufacturers.

The point of “Climate Change” and other globalist pogroms is transfer power from you to them. That is the only purpose.

So what if China continues with high carbon emissions; atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have nothing to do with the weather or the climate.

That is so right on!
Plus, there is zero, none, nada evidence that carbon dioxide has anything to do with the climate.

If “Climate Change” was an actual existential threat to the human race, we would have no choice but to immediately attack them with our nuclear arsenal and eliminate 1/2 to 3/4 of their population along with 1/2 of India’s.
