...The debate raises the question of how long Hollywood producers and unions will keep the costly and time-consuming measures in place....
“SAG-AFTRA has continued to see a small but vocal minority spread misinformation that certainly makes it harder to do the work of the union,” said one board member, who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to comment. “That has been a challenge for the union overall. The National Board has been consistent. The union has continued to keep people safe and get people back to work.”
However, Drescher, by opening the topic to debate, is giving a voice to members who feel aggrieved by the use of the mandates.
In her position on vaccine mandates, Drescher appears at odds with the union she now leads — and the slate she heads, the Unite for Strength group that holds a majority of seats on the National Board.
Last month, the “Nanny” star and cancer survivor raised her concerns about giving studio employers the right to require workers on film and TV shows to be vaccinated, in a letter published in the union’s magazine. Although she said she was vaccinated, she called the move “a slippery slope.”
...
“What’s next, we can’t work without a monkeypox vaccine?” Drescher asked, calling for members to educate themselves on the newest science. “The allowance that we have granted the employers walks on a razor’s edge of compromising religious, disability and body sovereignty FREEDOMS.”
...
The union released a 27-page list of shows that have implemented vaccine requirements for members of its cast and crew, including 20th Century Fox’s “9-1-1: Lone Star,” ABC’s “General Hospital” and NBCUniversal’s “The Equalizer.”

Courageously waited for the tide to turn before opening her big trap. Anyway, better than continued silence, I guess.
Ping - you say there ARE conservatives in the industry. I don’t know if Ms Drescher is one of them, but the Times does its best to smear her while making the union and mandates appear “reasonable.”
I need to rewatch “The Nanny,” apparently.
It is a positive sign when people have their own Road to Damascus moment.
I had no idea ‘the equalizer’ was still a show.
That old Brit guy must be in his 90s by now
““The allowance that we have granted the employers walks on a razor’s edge of compromising religious, disability and body sovereignty FREEDOMS.””
my goodness, logic and reason from HollyWeird.
FWIW - She was a total Hottie on The Nanny.
The illegals on Martha's Vineyard were treated better than the unvaxxed workers in Hollywood.
ms drescher has a troubled past, personal tragedy that she has overcome, but i could not stand the character she played on tv. her character off screen, has my admiration growing.
Who cares about what goes on in Hollyweird? Do you actually watch that crap, any of that crap? All the same to me if they’re doing shows dressed in deep sea diving gear. The harder or more ridiculous the process to produce that garbage, the better.
Thanks for posting, very timely and helpful.
Drescher’s a mensch.
Edward Woodward was the best Equalizer.
Politically she’s all over the place. However, from 2016-2018 she dated Shiva Ayyadurai. He’s an MIT graduate who claimed he invented email. He’s also anti vaccine, hates Fauci, ran against Elizabeth Warren and believes the election was stolen.
She had a rockin’ body in The Hollywood Knights.
Two female high school friends of mine got cancer in 2013/2015. Each of them got the vaxx. Each of them had their cancer return within 6 months of the first shot. They both died.
I think the Equalizer was re-made. The star of the original show, Edward Woodward, died in 2009.
Don’t tell me, in the new Equalizer, it’s either a woman or a black guy, am I right?
TV, Movies, Books you can find plenty of trash and filth in all same with authors and actors who like people in general run the gambit of the good, the bad and the ugly. Take Stephen King for example I don’t care for a thing about most of what this man believes in especially his politics and to me most of his books are trash save one ‘The Stand’ which is one of my favorite books and one I strongly recommend. Just like you need to do with people themselves you must take their works one at a time.
