Perhaps it was age-related dementia, but as I recall Goldwater lost his way in his final years and became a McCain-type Republican.

After an LBJ poster went up in my three-story dorm, I put up a Goldwater poster one story above it. Goons claiming to be from the university told me to remove it, or I’d be ejected from the dorm.
