Police said there are after-market modifications that can added to vehicles, like cages welded around catalytic converters which can harden the targets and deter thefts.
Don't be wasting your time calling the police. They ain't gonna come and if they do come they ain't gonna be doing anything.

The problem should be solved when the SFPD switches to EV’s.

Every police car should have this sign on both sides:
“Please do not steal the catalytic converter.”
San Francisco really should hire me as a consultant.
It would have to be work from home, though.

“It’s got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?”

I guess it wouldn’t have done any good to call the cops. You need to be on your toes at all times while sitting in your car on a “stakeout.” Report any strange noises around your car.

They should replace all of their vehicles with All Electric ones to prevent this.

With a plasma cutter how long would this evolution take? 45 seconds max per vehicle.
This is funny, right here. San Fran in a tail spin.

The thieves will move on to stealing EV battery packs.
