Canceling trains is not disruptive?

Amtrak doesn't own the rail lines, the freight companies do.

Amtrak is probably afraid that freight trains will be stopped wherever they happen to be and will block the lines from other through traffic.

And, they might also be afraid that switchers and track dispatchers won't be on the job to monitor the routes.

Think of it as airlines canceling flights if air traffic controllers strike or certain airports have workers on strike.

Dozens of people will be seriously inconvenienced!

I’ve rode Amtrak several times FL-DC. If everyone on the train moved to one car, there would have been room for more passengers in that single car.
