I’m an Anglophile. I’ve lived in London. I respect the monarchy, and I’m sad the Queen has died.
When I’m at a C of E service, I don’t stand for God Save the King.
That’s because I respect the men who died on Lexington Green and at Concord, who froze at Valley Forge, who fought the Hessians at Trenton, more.

Didn’t we fight a war or two so we didn’t need to do this?

Closest thing the US had to a monarch was Elvis.
Yes, it’s not a good thing that QEII died, I’m sure we were fond of her.
But she wasn’t our monarch, she was someone else’s.
To: Fiji Hill
What? Why?
We’re US flags at half mast when other UK kings or queens died?

I take some issue with this, but they already put flags at half staff for everything else, even nearly the death of entertainment celebrities such as Whitney Houston.
The political element has used a solemn and meaningful thing which should be used sparingly as a way of pandering for votes.
I have gotten to the point I simply don’t care what the government says. I fly my flag, when I used to fly it, at half mast for whatever reason I see fit, not for whatever reason they see as fitting.

Because we live in an unserious society where the flag is flown at half mast more often than not now for some reason or another. It’s lost all meaning. Might as well leave it half mast forever.

Maybe there should be more gradations.
Say 3/4 mast.
Or 1/4 mast.
95% mast for someone not so important.
Make it really silly and meaningless.

Were US flags at half mast when other UK kings or queens died? I doubt it. This is the first time I've ever seen US flags flown at half-mast for a foreigner.
To: Fiji Hill
If someone stubs their toe in the U.S. these days the flags go to half-mast. Muh feelings.

Closest thing the US had to a monarch was Elvis. But not in Texas, where Bob Wills is still the king!

Didn’t we fight a war or two so we didn’t need to do this? This is out of respect for an ally's head of state.

Mine's been at full-closet...since Biden was selected.
...and it will stay there until Americans take-back America.
