My opinion is that it’s a lipoma.
I had one surgically removed 15 yrs ago (it was much smaller than his).
I wonder if he’s not a candidate for the surgery due to other issues.
It’s essentially a benign lump of fat.
If only Festerman were benign.

If the lump is a lipoma, the reason the surgeons have not removed it is because it has grown into his spinal cord. Otherwise, surgical removal of lipomas is a no-brainer.
