Kharkiv, Ukraine's 2nd Largest City Plunged Into Total Darkness As Russia Strikes Key Infrastructure

Kharkiv, which is Ukraine's second largest city and is the biggest population center closest to Russia's border, has been plunged into total darkness Sunday night amid alleged Russian attacks on key infrastructure sites, including large power stations.

"The center of Ukraine’s second city Kharkiv was plunged into darkness on Sunday evening by an electricity blackout," Reuters has confirmed of the large-scale outage. It's further being reported that some city districts are also without water, creating a severe crisis for residents.

"The cause and extent of the blackout in the northeastern city were not immediately clear. There were also unconfirmed social media reports of blackouts in other places and regions," the report said initially.

However, Ukrainian officials are pointing to stepped up and deliberate Russian attacks on civilian electrical facilities crucial to the city's operations. They are viewing it as punishment for the at this point largely successful Ukrainian military counteroffensive which has regained at least 40 towns and villages to the north and east of Kharkiv.

President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a brief statement to social media along with footage of destroyed infrastructure, denouncing "Deliberate and cynical missile strikes on civilian, critical infrastructure." He stressed they were not "military facilities" that were attacked. "Kharkiv and Donetsk regions were cut off. In Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy there are partial problems with power supply."

The governor of the eastern Kharkiv region said that both electricity and water supplies had been disrupted Sunday, citing ongoing Russian attacks on "critical infrastructure" had disrupted electricity and water.

Additionally, a top Ukraine offical of the Dnipropetrovsk region blamed the Russian military for hitting "energy infrastructure" - calling it retaliation for "defeat on the battlefield."

⚠️ Confirmed: Real-time network data show a major internet disruption in #Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine; the incident is attributed to a Russian strike on TEC-5 thermal power plant as Ukrainian forces recover Russian-occupied territory 📉

Global network monitoring site NetBlocks also confirmed a mass disruption in internet access across Kharkiv oblast, citing a "Russian strike on TEC-5 thermal power plant" amid pro-Moscow forces being pushed back.

the russkies had to destroy the population in order to save it, either that or the russkies needed lebensraum [living space] for themselves ...

War means War.

If Zelensky can’t stand the heat, then he shouldn’t go in the kitchen.

This isn’t a war.

In fact, its illegal to call it a war in Russia.

Its a Special Military Operation.

Russia never intentedeed to have a war. They were going Replace Zelesky with a Puppet in the first weeks.

The war thats turned into a quagmire was a complete and total miscalculation.

Soon the Russian people will realize this and they will not be happy.

Nobody wants to call it a war anymore but it’s a war who cares what the political leaders want to call it.

Let them call it “Operation Iraqi Freedom” or “Operation Kiss My Hiney” or whatever it’s still a war.

War Is Hell.

The Ukrainians are going to realize that there are piles and piles of bodies of Ukrainian cannon fodder, used to grease the gears of the money machines of the Western Military-Industrial Complex, and the US Uniparty.

I suspect the Ukies will get mad before the Russians, who have been collectively been made unpersons by the West, down to the last Siberian peasant.

Maybe the UKs will lob a couple missiles across the border on a few Russian city power plants too... it works both ways.

Putin apparently supports the “green energy movement”, trying to catch Ukraine up to California’s electrical power plan.

Social media is saying blackouts in several areas where there’s fighting - reason appears to be Russia hit infastructure. Time will tell if true or not....then again we may never know.

Here’s what RT is reporting.....

Full blackouts have hit Kharkov and Donetsk regions, Zelensky said in a social media post, apparently referring to the Ukrainian-controlled part of Donetsk People’s Republic.........Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Zaporozhye and Odessa regions have been hit by ‘partial blackouts’

Blowing up civilian infrastructure was OK when the perfumed prince Weasely Clark did it to the Serbians.

Not sure how well that would work out for Kiev and Lvov...

Perhaps this massive power blackout is occurring because the primary nuclear power plant that services this region was completely shutdown for safety reasons because of continual shelling by Kiev forces.

Not to mention 1000 sorties a day on Baghdad

Zekensky fanboys always call this Putins atrocity filled total war

Now finally he hits some power grids and it’s Grozny

They are so silly

A war being fought in the east mostly by non Russian militias and Chechens with Russian air support and arty and power and water up in most of Ukraine is not anything close to total war

Russia bombs Ukraine like we did Iraq and rolls in several armies worth of Russian combat infantry and unleashes their air power

Then you have total war and in 10-15 years maybe hardened Ukes will fight for Russia like Chechens do now

That may be a Muslim thing they respect a firm hand
