It is said that ranked choice voting tends to help more moderate candidates win.

I believe that Palin didn't do as well as expected in Alaska because Begich's voters thought Palin too controversial, and either put no name as second, or the Dem's name.

If the state is paying to run the election, then the state sets the rules.

If we want truly rightwing candidates to represent the GOP then we need to return to caucuses or run our own primaries, and also grab hold of the reins of power in the local GOP groups.

This will cost time and money and mostly involve doing very boring things over and over again. Are we willing to make the sacrifice?

Yeah, the article mentions it isn’t uncommon for ballots to be thrown out if they don’t completely rank their choices.

So in 2024 if we vote first for Donald Trump and don’t rank Brandon or Kammila or whoever, our vote could get tossed.

How slick.
