An armistice would stop the killing.

It is easier to achieve as no side has to give up any right or claim.

And would leave Russia with control over chunks of Ukrainian territory to which they have no right.

Better idea would have been for Russia to declare an armistice 30 seconds into the invasion. Nobody dies, and no land changes hand. Seems like that would have been much more fair.

Ukraine loses most of its seacoast, from Mikolaiev to Mariupol. Thats a crippling and long term blow economically.

Status quo ante bellum might be acceptable, but that means the Russians have to leave a lot of territory.

I spoke with a group of refugees from around Kyiv today. Women who had first run here to Poland in March with their kids.

It is now safe to go back, but they came back here to earn money as there are no jobs there.

However all of them insisted that they want yo keep fighting Putin. Until Russia leaves all Ukrainian territory.

Otherwise they felt it would be disrespectful to those who have already given up their lives
