Ukraine is reportedly on the precipice of a major victory, with its counter-offensive around the eastern city of Kharkiv (Kharkov) unexpectedly putting the Russian army on the back foot.
According to British intelligence, Russian forces appear to have been “taken by surprise” by the Ukrainians, who have reportedly advanced “up to 50 kilometres (31 miles) into previously Russian-held territory on a narrow front.”

Yes, we both had a good laugh at our military when it pulled out of Afghanistan and left 85 billion dollars worth of equipment for the Taliban.
I picture Basement Joe running down the Kabul airstrip, his diaper leaking, as he jumps into the open door of the last C-130...
Hard to believe anything from this war. I don’t put too much stock in the media and zero for the Putin cult.
We keep throwing money away.
They were winning, now they are retreating. In some ways they still are. The Ukrainians got their new weapons, training and tactics and now Ukranians got the momentum. We will see if it can sustained and lead to final Russian withdrawal. This conflict is far from over from what I can t well, unless a negotiated treaty happens.
Apparently, Mr. Butthurt McGee is trying to say something but just like the Russians is afraid to defend a position.
The more someone tries to shove a certain idea in my head, the more certain I am that they are lying.
Why don’t you share your thoughts on how Russia’s military is performing in Ukraine. Are they following a winning strategy?
I also like to play end-game chess.
Is this one of those “flame wars” that my great, great grandfather told me about?
Yes, but more of a "heating pad war".
I was involved in a flame war where we went several hundred posts till the Big Guy had to get involved.
I was right on that one, BTW - the other poster was attacking Sarah Palin over her public stance on border-jumping illegals, and I took umbrage at his wrong-headedness.
Unfortunately, he was [and is] a Last-Worder.
"I don't really know about much of anything, so I just troll-post to avoid having to think, and I do what my boss tells me to."
Now I understand why you never engage in discussion, or answer questions. Enjoy your dinner, cabbage and pelmeni.
No. The pro Russian troll club doesn't get set on fire like their Russian pals in Ukraine.
You're Class of 97! :)
You were just funning me.
Remember the time we beat the cr@p out of Eschior on his "A Walk In The Gardens Of Stone" thread - where we ended up getting M. Larry Lawrence dug up out of Arlington and shipped back to California?
Eschoir [toiletman, etc] always gave great flame.
Pierogi Ruskie to you, KhokholBoy.

classy green-eyed blonde
Good.
At the speed of the current UA advance, and a bit more equipment, they would be in Mockva in another 3 days.
Russian win as long as they have plenty of artillery and rocket tubes and the shells and rockets to go with them. They are helpless against a fast moving combined arms assault.
Now their supply hubs and rail lines are either captured or cut. No artillery and other supplies, leaves a very helpless Ivan - who is trained to fight with plenty of artillery. No artillery, then its time to skedaddle home.
The only forces the RGF can count on are the chewed up airborne, special forces and Wagners who are skilled, motivated and well trained; trouble is they represent a small fraction of the RGF forces. The rest of their army (the regular troops) is, for all intents and purposes, useless.
That guy is a low ranking fraud and media hound.
