Ukrainian forces have entered Izium after forcing Russian troops to retreat, an officer involved in the operation to liberate the strategic eastern city told CNN Saturday.
Izium, which sits near the border between the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, had been under Russian occupation for more than five months and had become an important hub for the invading military.
"We have just started clearing the town. First military units are in," the officer told CNN.
A spokesperson for the Bohun Brigade of the Land Forces of Ukraine said in a statement earlier on Saturday that "Russians escaped and left weapons and ammo behind. City center is free."
Several videos of Ukrainian troops standing at the Izium sign at the entrance to the city were posted on Telegram. One piece of footage was purportedly filmed by a reconnaissance unit of Ukraine's 25th Paratroopers' Brigade. Over the video, a voice is heard saying: "We are in Izium. Everything will be Ukraine. Our flag is here already."
Earlier in the day, the Russian-backed head of the Izium city administration, Vladislav Sokolov, was quoted by the Russian state news agency RIA as saying the situation in Izium was "very difficult."

The situation is making my head spin. A photo just posted from Telegram implies Ukrainians are at Sieverodonetsk. Presumably advancing from the west.
Its possible that the whole Russian Eastern Front is collapsing in a rout.
While this ‘war’ has been ongoing for more than six months now, over time there seems to be more and more articles for Ukraine, and less and less FR’s buying into this NWO Deep State Military-Industrial-Complex resource and propaganda sink.
FR now seems flooded with Biden/Soros pieces for the clown Zelensky.
All the while, we see now a few times a week this regime sending another Billion here and a few more billion there to it.
Unlike some I don’t predict a war outcome. Danger for the Ukrainians is if Russia can mount a much larger force to counterattack. I assume they have that capability one way or the other.
On the other side, I figure the Russian troops have close to zero enthusiasm for this operation. Versus Ukraine is out for liberation and revenge.
So far, we should be glad to see the success of Western weaponry and tactics advice. Could assist us in deterring China.

But instead, half the conservatives bought the fable that Biden wanted to conquer Russia to establish a gay kingdom for George Soros.
So now we are getting a good result, but Biden can claim success. In reality, he was dragged kicking and screaming to finally stand up to Russia.
Even if they are defeated in the end, the Ukrainians held out against tremendous odds and all hope, until Western aid could arrive.
We should be glad the Western powers were able to respond and not fold. Germany was a disappointment.
I predict Western Europe will fail to learn its lesson and will remain dependent on Russian energy.

Maybe someone would listen to your opinion if you’d stop telling conservatives who’ve been here longer than you, that they are “Biden/Soros” agents.
Or if you’d stop ranting that Zelensky is a “clown” when he’s stood up to a super power from day one.
Actual events are not propaganda. Unless you want to say that this war news is fake. Not even the Russians are saying that.

Exactly. Some of us warned for months that allying MAGA to one party state fascist Russia was insanity. The weakminded succumbed to Putinist gaslighting and the natural tendencies of oppositional politics. If my opponent is for it I must be against it.
Brandon will now do a totally undeserved victory lap while endless clips of Tucker saying “Russia has won” play. That will further marginalize MAGA as a bunch of fringe fruits and nuts.
The reality is Brandon ignored Ukraine in 2021 while he partnered with Putin on Iran. Putin saw weakness in the west both on the left and right. He took that as a green light and now hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in Ukraine in the greatest war crime in Europe since the Austrian corporal was giving orders. I hope Putin’s useful idiots are enjoying this. They own it all.
Other sources include, especially in this case, pro-Russian telegram channels, which have actually been scooping everyone all week, tracking the Ukrainian advance in a more timely way than even Ukrainian sources.
