.....Now the destruction of higher education is basically complete. Colleges no longer admit people simply on whether you can do the work; they now do so by changing standards if you can't, which in many cases means your "degree" denotes nothing more than paying the money. The "unlimited" money spigot has turned college dorms into luxury accommodations I refuse to buy for a weekend when on vacation as I just don't see the value. The prior concept of cinder-block walls, a built into-the-wall desk accommodating two people and a pair of twin beds that can at the occupant's option be stacked into bunks with a shared bathroom either with another connecting room or down the hall as a communal facility is gone, with people believing this is "beneath them.".....

Defund the police? No, defund the universities.
Tried my damn best to find her Senior thesis paper online but came up empty.
The Democrats are too stupid (though collectively they are very destructive).
We call the enemy the Left...but "who" is the leadership of this Left.
And, no, it isn't Soros. He is a major financier of the Left's causes, but he didn't single-handedly turn academia into this vast propaganda machine.
Who?
“The silencing of free thought begins with how one is educated” L.Star
How would that be done now that most of their donations come from brainwashed graduates who are acolytes of Wokedom?
I take comfort in knowing that the men who went to community college or did apprenticeships are that much better equipped and skilled for today’s job market than the ones (particularly the young women) who went to these mindless places that often serve as daycare for young adults and also for leftist indoctrination.
Tax their endowments and the land they are on. Make donations taxable and their funds will dry up. Eff em.
There is no “who”.
There is a collective “who” that gained power incrementally until they were strong enough to dictate policies and ban speech they did not like. All the while they made demands against boards of governors etc. until they were the only power left. Thats just in academia.
And from that academia came the demand that the press become advocates, not journalists. That was from the 90’s.
So now they controlled 2 main influencers of thought: education and media.
Thats the “who” you are looking for.
Started back in the 60’s. It becomes easier the more bases you cover with your brand of slime. Now they just tell you to shut up and have the power using courts and opinion[social media campaigns that can get people fired] to make it stick.
Sort of like a hydra...cut off one “head” and 2 more pop up.
Probably forgot and left it in her thesis advisor's bedroom. BU was notorious for that kind of hanky-panky even in my day (1970s). She certainly had the assets . . . . .
They are being funded by federally guaranteed educational loans given too freely and forgiven illegally, which allows the universities to charge rates that would be considered abusive and ridiculous in almost any other industry.
A three hour class in English 101, one semester of three hours a week, for 100 students at $500 an hour? That’s $150,000 for that simple class alone. Insane. But the feds fund it.
That said, did this movement just develop organically? Was there never a unified command and control apparatus?
I have previously referred to the collective of the Deep State, academia/education, and the Democrat Party as The Beast without a Brain. That still seems applicable, but I would clarify that it has a brain, but its brain is spread out like the brain of an octopus.
As you say, it has a collective brain (like the Borg).
I meant to add the Media to the Deep State, academia, et al. There’s probably still someone else I have forgotten to include.
Just stop with the Federal loans and loan guarantees. Leave it to the market to decided who is a good risk for a college loan and who isn’t.
I WORKED to pay for college, lived at home, commuted 20 miles each way. So did quite a few of my classmates. No, it wasn’t MIT or even BU, but I got the tools to continue teaching myself as needed throughout my somewhat checkered career. At 77 I’m still doing it.
the “economics” professors taught her socialism along with all the other students
Higher education had become adult daycare.
They are your masters now.
“Higher education” is just another taxpayer-funded racket that doesn’t have to work well in order to be successful.
You are generous to assign the 'indoctrination centers' with the title 'universities'!!!!!
