71 House Democrats warn Pelosi against including Manchin's permitting deal in government funding bill

Nearly a third of House Democrats warned Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday against tying this month's must-pass government funding bill to legislation spurring oil and gas drilling that is desired by Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.

Seventy-one House Democrats penned a letter to Pelosi, D-Calif., warning that the bill's inclusion will force them to seriously consider voting against the short-term government funding measure, known as a continuing resolution.

"In the face of the existential threats like climate change and MAGA extremism, House and Senate leadership has a greater responsibility than ever to avoid risking a government shutdown by jamming divisive policy riders into a must-pass continuing resolution," said House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raúl Grijalva, an Arizona Democrat who spearheaded the letter. "Permitting reform hurts already-overburdened communities, puts polluters on an even faster track, and divides the caucus."

Manchin should threaten to switch parties or at least go independent and caucus with the Republicans. Make them pay dearly, Joe.

I know it’s just my fantasies running away with me, but wouldn’t it be nice if Joe said, “Hey, I got screwed—I’m now a member of the Republican Senate Majority!

Never happen, I know, but it makes me smile to imagine it.

Arlene Specter had a miserable fade. I hope Joe Manchin does the same. He deserves it.

We don’t need the likes of him in our ranks.

He’s going to split to the Republicans. No way he wins his next election to a republican, so might as well be one.

Reflexively, I agree, but is it Machin getting stiffed, or West Virginia? Maybe WV deserves it for electing Manchin, but on the other hand, it is the most pro Trump state in the country, so maybe we should want them to get their payoff.

These continuing resolutions have to be stopped. Congress should be following the Constitution.

“Congress should be following the Constitution.”

That’s funny!

You’d make a great stand-up comic.

Joe Manchin needs not to switch parties to survive politically. It is to late for this. He barely won his last election. His support for the far left and his crucial vote has insured his defeat in the most conservative state in the nation.

Joe Manchin puzzles me. If he had voted with the wishes of his state he would be democrat for life in a republican state.
He did not and thus insured his defeat. In reality I think Joe is a left wing liberal and voted and thus descended on his own sword for the last time. He voted his hidden beliefs. He is rich and thus has no problems. West Virginia has been screwed.

Joe Manchin is a politican. He’s an old man. So he may decide not to run for reelection. He may had found a deal that he liked.

Gun grabber Joe? Wow. He co-wrote the most anti 2A legislation during the Obama years. You can have him in your mushy middle party along with the needle pushers, lock down and masking “conservatives”. He is, was and will be a deep blue dem.
He is just used well by pelosis and kept leashed.
I take it you would vote for those with record, like snow, graham and the like. Lukewarm party pukes with no real principles.
