California’s electricity woes result from man-made climate policies, not from climate change..
...
Solar and wind power have rapidly expanded thanks to rich government subsidies along with the state’s renewables mandate. These have made it harder for baseload gas and nuclear generators that run around the clock to make money. Many have shut down, and the result is that the state often lacks sufficient power when the sun goes down.
...
The state must therefore rely on imports from other states ... But these imports are becoming less dependable since California’s neighbors are also losing base-load generators owing to their own renewable buildouts. Arizona lost about half of its summer coal-generating capacity between 2015 and 2020.
Irony of ironies, the state has installed temporary gas-fired generators to run during grid emergencies. In other words, the state that is working so hard to banish fossil fuels has become more dependent on them. Los Angeles’s municipal utility is generating nearly 30% of its electricity from coal, some of which is being shared with the rest of the state. Call it Gavin Newsom’s dirty little climate secret.
...
Electricity prices in California’s wholesale market surged Tuesday evening to about $1,700 per MWh compared to the normal $100 and $67 a year ago. All of this explains why residential electric rates in California have risen by 50% in the past two years—three times more than they have nationwide.
...
Americans everywhere will soon be soaked with higher prices for power that is becoming less reliable.
...
The grid problems that Californians are enduring will grow and spread as supersized green-energy subsidies and mandates spread their harmful incentives throughput the U.S. economy in coming years. The culprit is the left’s climate policies, not climate change.

Predicted and now in place. How much longer is America going to fall for this stupidity? I can’t answer that question.
Well, on the plus side I heard(unconfirmed) the other day that the renewables actually provided power for the entire caulifourkneeyuh grid for a whopping 4 seconds. Of course that was in April when demand was really low, so........ Confirmation?
they are mandating EVs with no plan to expand the grid
step 1 get everyone in EVs by banning gas cars
step 2 go 100% wind/solar
step 3 park your EV cuz you cannot afford to charge it
step 4 bus bike or good pair of sneakers
they promise the jetsons
you get the flintstones
I really love California. The place, not the politics. But I hope they collapse into a stone age nightmare like the end of Atlas Shrugged as the lights all start going out. They need to hit rock bottom so they can stop dragging the country down with them. Then maybe they can start to change and climb out.
California Dems: Buy EVs But Do not Charge Them.

Electricity.
Hey! Watch yourself now .....
Some out here happen to like Fred and Wilma!
We allow Democrats in our society. We deserve what we get.
Democrats belong in equatorial Africa where they came from.
Not anywhere else.
Well, the average American is a clueless moron, and it’s getting worse. This country is finished.
” state’s renewables mandate.”
L.A. county energy generation is almost all NG. Declaring windmills eyesores they have banned their new construction.
“How much longer is America going to fall for this stupidity?”
Going by my liberal neighbor, it’s terminal.
Gotta love how the pinheads pushing this crappola constantly stress that it was pricing that made the baseload plants go under.
When bribe-taking gov’mt Aholes use taxpayer $$ to subsidize a technology that has no technical chance of doing how it is advertised — that is not a market. Solar and windmills have a niche market. They are possible to help in some rare instances. But, otherwise, they are just another means to launder money.
