News flash: the Pope is Catholic
Put more generally: having responsibility makes one more conservative.
“Having Children May Make You More Conservative, Study Finds”
If it doesn’t, then you don’t give a crap about your kids.
Having and accepting responsibility makes you more conservative.
Gee. I hope they didn’t pay someone to perform that study.
(That is the third time I have posted nearly those exact words in the last three days!)
I’m working on a case right now where the stepdaughter embezzled $400 to $500 thousand from her stepfather’s business. She feels no shame or guilt and is still working in his office.
He is going to potentially lose everything and still can’t teach her consequences of her actions.
From the article
“She also noted the study did not find that parents are more economically conservative. “We find that parents do change their economic preferences and are more in favour of government spending,” she said of her own research, although she noted their support of services like daycare only lasted while they were making use of them.”
Notice the study addresses “socially conservative” not fiscally conservative.
“they found that people who were more motivated to care for children tended to be more socially conservative.”
...and growing liberalization leads to declining birth rates.
If you only believe we are here a short while and return to dust, then why worry about the future? Lead a hedonistic, selfish, perverted liberal lifestyle while you can! Get yours while the getting is good?! Who needs kids?
Well my niece, her husband, all their friends and they all have kids and are all Democrats.
All my husband’s family in NJ are democrats and all their friends who have kids and grandchildren as well are Democrats. A great number of NJ people have kids and grandkids and are Democrats. Same is true in NY. How is it, although we all know this, this study ignores those obvious facts?
I’d love to believe this but it’s not true. It makes for a false sense of security.
The reverse seems more true, since the rabid anti-establishmentarianism of the 1960s (in part spurred by opposition to the draft for Vietnam), an anti-Christian, anti-American and anti-family mania that was taken up by the universities and has been carried forward by their faculties, departments of "education" and medical schools, and subsequently by teachers' unions, seeping down through the K-12 schools.
