A new conservative ad attacking Democrat John Fetterman for pulling a gun on an unarmed Black jogger almost a decade ago aims to sway Black voters in the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race.
The reported $500,000 ad created by a political committee backing Republican Mehmet Oz, says Fetterman "chased down an innocent unarmed Black man" in his pickup truck, eventually pulling a 20-gauge shotgun on the individual. It is a reference to a December 2013 incident provoked by what Fetterman believed was heard gunshots while he was playing with his son.
Fetterman was at the time mayor of Braddock, a Pittsburgh suburb. Fetterman served in the role for 13 years prior to being sworn in as Pennsylvania lieutenant governor in January 2019.
The ad's release was feared by prominent Black Pennsylvania Democrats even prior to the state's May 17 primary, according to NBC News. Black-heavy populations in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are viewed as an instrumental voting bloc to determine who represents the entire state.
The 30-second spot reportedly started airing Tuesday on networks including Black Entertainment Television (BET), the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), MSNBC, and ESPN, in addition to shorter spots on mobile devices.
Reverend Mark Kelly Tyler, a top Democratic organizer in Philadelphia who helped President Joe Biden win over Black voters in 2020, told NBC News in April that those who believe Fetterman's actions regarding the jogger wouldn't be brought up were "living in fantasy land."
Tyler equated it with Hillary Clinton's use of the term "superpredators" being brought up again during her 2016 campaign.
"This story can become a drumbeat almost every day or just result in one good ad that can depress Philadelphia's turnout by 40, 50,000 votes," Tyler said. "That would be enough to lose the election for us."

Depressing, distressing, yeah. But it seems even a corpse could be trotted out by Dems and it would garner a lot of votes.

The black man he held at gunpoint is in prison right now and says he still supports Fetterman for U S Senate. Getting blacks off the Democratic Plantation is proving to be more difficult than I ever imagined.

But...we do need to get control of Senate committees...that cannot be denied. We must.
And having six years of Oz is part of the price we would have to pay.

I’m asking my fellow Pennsylvanians to call their county GOP for yard signs, if they have not done so already. Also ask them if they need volunteers.

I’d like to see an ad that plays on the Georgia case, wherein an armed father and son chased down a black jogger.
In Georgia, two men who chased down and killed a black jogger got life sentences. [Over sequences of truck chase and shotgun killing Of Ahmaud Aubery, pics of the convicted defendants].
In Pennsylvania, John Fetterman went after an innocent black man with him shotgun too, but he gets to run for the Senate. [Over a sequence of Fetterman, the victim, then a Fetterman for Senate rally with signs.]
That the wrong logic. You won’t get 6 years of OZ if he should win you are stuck with a turd 12-18 years….
I will have no part of putting another Fraud in office.
This man has publicly declared guns are a health care issue, that he would have certified the fraudulent election…. He is also knee deep in the WEF…. He’s a fraud. I will not hold my nose and vote for this turd… because as long as people do that nothing will change. gOp knows they can put up a RiNO turd and just scare people to vote for him because at least he’s not the other guy…

Had an ad for the “mail in” ballots today. The comments put the ad into perfect perspective..
