Lira claims that the Ukrainian offensive against Kherson has eliminated the need for Russians to conduct any kind of a large area sweep to the Dnieper after driving Ukies out of the Donbass. He calls the Kherson offensive a funnel of destruction that Ukies have too much ego investment in to give up on at this juncture.

I don’t know about the validity of Lira’s assessment but I do know the Ukrainians don’t have the welfare of their “cannon fodder” as a priority. Here’s a short video (from a Ukrainian source) showing Ukrainian soldiers in position.
