On Saturday, September 10, 2022, the city of Toledo, Ohio, will be holding a gun “buyback” event. The Orwellian term “buyback” is used even though the guns being turned in were never owned by the government. The event is scheduled for four hours and will give out BP gasoline cards in various denominations in exchange for guns. From wtol.com:
The city of Toledo is holding a gun buyback event on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Frederick Douglass Center in central Toledo.
The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will accept any gun in exchange for gas gift cards, ‘no questions asked.’ No ID is required to surrender a weapon.
On the Toledo government website, there are a few specifics about the event: From toledo.oh.gov:
Location: Frederick Douglass Center, 1001 Indiana Ave.
Date: Saturday, September 10
Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Receive a gas gift card for every firearm turned in, no questions asked. Gift card quantities are limited and subject to availability. Functioning and nonfunctioning firearms will be accepted at the event.
All firearms must be unloaded.
$100 Handguns
$200 Shotguns and rifles
$250 Automatic
$0 Ammunition
At 13abc.com, the announcement mentioned “residency.” There is no indication how the residency would be determined, as this is a “no questions asked” turn-in event. From 13abc.com:

Cash for guns pop up tent in the 700 block of Indiana Ave.? Just sayin’...................
“...No ID is required to surrender a weapon...” So how is residency determined then? Most recent electric/water/sewer bill?
Does anyone else find the term “buy-back” as problematic as I do? It implies that guns were property of the state, sold to you, and theirs to first “buy-back” and logically at some point to then “take-back”?
I like the quotes on buyback since the government never sold them in the first place.
I’d gladly pay $250-$300 for an ‘automatic’. 🤔😂👍
You cannot "buyback" what you never owned before.
Does that mean that they sold those guns to those people before and now they’re gonna’ buy them BACK????????? Huh?????
I remember one a while back where a number of gun buyers set up tables across the street, and got some good bargains.
The price of firearms go up every time Brandon gets in front of a microphone. Obama sold guns by threatening to take them. Biden sells guns by threatening us.
“No ID is required to surrender a weapon...” So surrendering your weapons to the state is established vernacular?
My guess these buybacks are used to trace stolen or buy repairable, broken weapons..no criminal is gonna give up a functioning gun, especially if stolen...
Could just be “surrender”. Sorta like surrendering to the powers that be and getting your never ending serieis of vax and boosters.
i wonder if the 3d gun guy will show up
i hear he cashed in at another buyback
These buybacks are great opportunity to get rid of broken guns.
When “no question asked”, they are also great way for criminals to dispose evidence!
Polystyrene handguns!
Apparently I can just cross the border and make some $$$$?
So I steal a gun ,use it to commit a crime. The city buys it from me an destroys it
>>>>> $250 Automatic <<<<<<
lol.....bet they got alot of those .../s
