FIRST ON FOX: Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman, a Democrat, told teachers’ unions that they would be his "first" call for education policy should he get elected.

While taking questions during a January speaking gig at a Pennsylvania State Education Association Political Institute event, Fetterman said that, if elected, he would be a staunch ally of teachers’ unions. His comments had not been reported previously.

"I’m not going to sit up here and pretend that I know exactly what’s needed, I’m going to turn to you," Fetterman said. "If you send me to Washington, D.C., you’ll be the first people that I call and want to sit down and meet with and find out what you need."

"What would be most helpful? How can we be most supportive? What are the resources you need?" the Pennsylvania Democrat continued. "Because, ultimately, you’re the professionals."

"I’m not going to tell you how to do your job, you’re going to tell me how I can do my job

Call me naive, but I would think that a U.S. Senator would very little to do with ‘education policy’. Were Fetterman running for governor of PA, his promise to the union would make a lot more sense.

I don’t know the percentage number. But I can tell you this that the men in Pennsylvania are pumped to get rid of or not to have a Fetterman go to the senate. The women not so much. This election could turn out to be between the men versus the girls. Not Democrat versus Republican. The man in Pennsylvania want nothing to do with him. Call all your buddies.

I noticed something about Dr.Oz last night. He doesn’t seem to be as comfortable with large large groups. He’s much better with groups of around 100 to 150 people I think Donald Trump last night destroyed John Fetterman. I agree with you about the Virginia model. John Fredericks is going to be coming to Pennsylvania to start that very model. I wish Dr Oz gets over being nervous about addressing large crowds.

I’m not going to tell you how to do your job, you’re going to tell me how I can do my job

OK, here's our list:

More money, lots more money.
Shorter work days, maybe 9:00 to noon then we go home.
Shorter school year, like maybe 5 months.
No standardized testing. We don't want any accountability.
Smaller class sizes, maybe 6?
Parents are not allowed to talk to teachers, administrators, or even their own kids.
Oh, there's more but for now that is a start.
