'C'mon, look guys, I don't consider any Trump supporter a threat to the country,' he told reporters Friday. 'When people voted for Donald Trump - and support him now - they weren't voting for attacking the Capitol. They weren't voting for overruling the election. They were going for a philosophy he put forward.'

That was my first reaction too, but a friend quickly pointed out that “They lack wisdom.” She’s right.
I don’t know why anybody considers this a walk back. It was a doubling down.
He doesn’t hate us because we support Trump himself, but because we support Trump’s ideas, which were basically to return to a colorblind, achievement based society.
