Granholm: California’s New Gas Vehicle Sale Ban ‘Could Be’ a National Model

During a portion of an interview aired on Friday’s broadcast of “The Issue Is,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm praised California’s proposal to ban the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 and said the plan “could be” a national model, but acknowledged that the price of electric vehicles has to come down and the power grid has to be expanded.

Host Elex Michaelson asked, “California made national headlines by becoming the first state to say, by 2035, we’re not going to have any gas-powered vehicles that are new that are being sold. You can still drive your old ones, but you can’t sell new ones. Do you like this concept?”

How do I “Short” CA?
The EV fallacy will clear much sooner than 2035.

California, the land of rolling blackouts. When will you be able to charge your car? Every other week?

So basically Secretary Granholm is either a complete idiot or she is actively working to sabotage the country or she is helping China to become the dominant country. Or all three.

Fair enough, but to put a sharper point on it any two out of the three would describe her.

Banning-emasculating something as American as our auto industry ought to be left to a vote by our citizens.

This appears, however, to be the result of our putting solid Americans into office and the next day they get a folder from Biden's FBI and the next day they vote to ban fire breathing engines.

I’ll be grabbin’ a rubber raft and floating on over to Mexico if gas cars are banned in the US.

True. Good post.

If the Dem side was right then how come they have to insist on totalitarian control to force people to do things against their will?

Henry Ford’s popular low cost automobiles allowed people to be mobile, free of interurban schedules and other mass transportation. That freedom was major part of America rising above the other countries in the world. Mussolini could make the trains runs on time but we could go where we chose at any time.

Now taking that away takes away freedom thanks to the Dems.
Old people often say “If you take my keys away you may as well call it a death sentence because my life is over.”

In California their polls since the 1980s showed “People want rail, bus and other mass transit to be funded fully but they want someone else to ride on them.” They said they will continue to drive their own cars.

2035?

I was told we only had 11 years left about three years ago.

Miss Mexico and Ed Ethiopian will not be joining the Biden plan.

It’s no where near $green$ enough.

If this catches on, the US will look like Cuba in a generation. Lots of old vehicles maintained well beyond their expected lives, especially south of the snow belt. Run down gas stations.

The electric chargers will often be vandalized the scrap value of their charging cables. Primitive, dystopian, dysfunctional.
