PARIS (AP) — France’s minister for energy transition said Friday that French electricity giant EDF has committed to restart all its nuclear reactors by this winter to help the country through the broad energy crisis aggravated by the war in Ukraine.
Agnes Pannier-Runacher said the government is taking steps to “avoid restrictive measures” over energy use in the peak winter cold season, following a special government meeting over energy issues.
France relies on nuclear energy for about 67% of its electricity — more than any other country — and on gas for about 7%.
At the moment, 32 of the 56 France’s nuclear reactors, all operated by EDF, are shut down for usual maintenance and, in some cases, to repair corrosion problems.

Sacre bleu
To help the country through the broad energy crisis aggravated by the war in Ukraine
They mean to reverse the damage done by Global Warming Insanity ,LOL
More nukes, less kooks.
Nuclear energy - The ultimate green energy
LOL But I thought France and the UK was going all in green.
They did get 70% of their power from nukes once.
I guess people prefer heat, cooling, light, and common comforts of civilization to climate change BS…
Who would have thought the French would end up being the smart ones?

Liberals are constantly redefining words to suit their own agenda. So all they gotta do is call nuclear energy a form of green energy.
Sure, that would make Greta Thunberg and her pals mad. But they’re already mad about a hundred other things. So what’s one more?
Why close them in the first place? They’ve been cost effective and dependable, even for the French surrender monkeys!
OK, shut down for maintenance. Didn’t read far enough down before replying. I do that a lot.
“How Dare You!”
One can “dare” to do a lot when hard-core reality slaps ya good and hard into next week.
The U.S. has only 1 year of supply without needing Russia resources.
It is ONLY a political problem, as there are several technical solutions.
France is going nuclear, which is actually green. Germany tried to sabotage EU nuclear energy by using the EU bureaucracy. However, the EU voted to list nuclear as a green technology a few months ago, making it easier to build nuclear power plants. France will be using far more nuclear compared to wind & solar.
I think part of the reason is the drought. Need water to cool the reactors.
