HARRISBURG, Pa--Pennsylvanians with minor, nonviolent marijuana criminal convictions could be pardoned beginning Thursday in a period until the end of the month under a joint effort from Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.
The so-called "one-time, large-scale pardon effort" will allow anyone who has been convicted of possession of marijuana or small amount of personal use to apply. There is no limit to the age of conviction.
The application is free, and entirely online...

Gov. Wolf and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman teaming up for mass pardons another vote buying scheme IMHO.
Like the story says it's a "joint effort" from Wolf and Fetterman LMAO.
And I’m reading this at 4:20 LOL.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Tell me there’s an election coming without telling me there’s an election coming
Since the 1990s, almost 100% of the people with low level marijuana convictions were pleading guilty to a reduced charge!
We have NO idea what crimes these people actually committed.
Fetterman convinced the governor to do this. The governor hasn’t done anything ever since he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Then we have John with cardiomyopathy deciding to let the potheads at a prison.
You should have toked up...
You should have toked up...
I don't actually use the stuff. I just thought it was a funny coincidence.
I wasn’t really advocating you toke up.
Many criminals with minor drug offenses were initially arrested for more serious offenses and plead down to minor drug charges to avoid threat of losing in court.
How about “low level” rapes, assaults and murders?
Somehow, I foresee, some high level traffickers but with no murder convictions will be pardoned, too. Obama did the same.
Trump pardoned some people that were convicted of drug crimes. It’s time people realize the “war on drugs” has completely failed and go back to the drawing board to figure out how to prevent the CIA from poisoning us.
We have NO idea what crimes these people actually committed”
Exactly right: Assault, resisting arrest, out on personal recognizance, weapons charges, pederasty, warrant. There are countless charges that can be “forgiven” by prosecutors.
The War on Drugs was lost when we wouldn’t shoot down known drug smugglers in our gunsights.
Then that’s the government’s fault for taking the lazy way out and bargaining.
I do not understand your comment.
More than 95% of federal defendants plead guilty.
They plead guilty to a reduced crime because the ONLY alternative is to go to trial, get convicted of a more serious crime, and get a LONGER prison sentence.
I understand how it works.
Defendents rarely plead guilty without some incentive/ bargaining.
They USUALLY only plead guilty when offered a deal, usually for a LESSER charge.
Ergo, the govt likes easy wins and is lazy and inefficient.
I have worked with these folks on all levels.
Prosecutors are basic government employees at the end of the day.
There are at least 1.2 million violent crimes in the USA every year.
There are at least 3 million non-violent felonies every year.
That would require 50 million jurors and at least another million judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys, and thousands of new court rooms and new office buildings.
If you include civil cases, at any given time, about 10% of the USA working age population would be serving on a jury.
Sorry, that is not serious.
A quote from William Kunstler, probably the second best known USA defense attorney in the 60s and 70s, speaking privately to a group of law students about criminal defendants: "They are guilty. They are all guilty."
The majority of those cases are repeat offenders because they were pleaded down the first time.
You assume the “millions” of crimes are actually solved each year. Not even close. Not even a smidgen of that are solved are or attempted to be adjudicated.
Not to mention the number of those crimes committed by people out on bail/parole/or with menial probation because of all the Soros installed attorneys.
The govt needs to stop being lazy and actually do their jobs.
And do you seriously believe every single defendent is guilty?
And if you really think that, then it shouldn’t be hard for the govt to prove it. So there again. They need to do their jobs!
No, they are not. Some of them might be probation drug test related. Unless you are dealing major weight, no one puts low level marijuana offenders in jail anymore.
I did not assume that millions of crimes are solved each year. I post regularly on gun murders - 60% of Black gun murders are never prosecuted.
Two million people are incarcerated in the USA. Not so long ago, that number was three million. Most of them are the worst of the worst human beings.
They plead guilty because they know they have a 90%-95% chance of being convicted of a more serious crime if they go to trial.
