Democrat Mary Peltola won the special election to fill Alaska's House seat for the remainder of 2022, according to unofficial results released by the Alaska Division of Elections, thwarting former Gov. Sarah Palin's bid at a political comeback -- at least for a few months. Peltola emerged as the victor Wednesday when Alaska's Division of Elections tabulated ranked-choice ballots in the state's first use of the system.

It took them many years to get to that point where the extreme left wing of the Party finally managed to kick out the more centrist aspects.

I don’t get to vote in Alaska.
I vote in Florida where I’ll be voting for Ron DeSantis, Marco Rubio, and everyone else with an (R) after their name whether Trump supported them or not.
Yes. But we have to understand that not everyone in a winning coalition is going to be a base Conservative.
Base Conservatives probably make up less than a third of the country. Another third are communists. It’s that mushy middle that we have to pull to our side.
That’s just the breaks. Reagan recognized that. That’s why he built an unassailable political coalition that held until 1992.
Trying to win with only your base is a recipe for disaster.
The people who aren’t in the base will vote for a Begich, who has the exact same policies as Palin, but they won’t vote for Palin.
I don’t like it, but that’s reality. If we want to stop the Democrats, we need to recognize it, and then push electable proven Conservatives who can appeal to a wide base.
DeSantis is a good model for how it works.
And it’s not Begich you have to worry about.
It’s all those Begich voters who picked Peltola as their #2.
I figure that’s where your coming from the movement to take down Trump back to the Good Ole Fakeservative RINO Days.
Do we really know that? Palin voters second choice votes weren't counted, were they?
I don’t know about that. Leftists will vote for candidates they think are trash if that’s what it takes to beat the Republican.

They have to get rid of their INSANE voting system.
I’d say we have to be realistic. “The most conservative candidate that can get elected” still seems like the right choice to me. Wishing there weren’t squishy RINO voters won’t make them go away, and won’t make them vote more conservative.
The poll was right on the money on the final results. When Alaska releases the cast vote on Sep 2, we should be able to see how Palin’s voters would have allocated their second choice.

Begich voters who would rather have the Democrat as a second choice are more detached from reality. They're RINO's. They are our downfall.
And people here will say it was all rigged, fraudulent, stolen.

If true, and we don't know that yet, it would confirm what many of us have said here. RINO voters would rather have a Democrat than a MAGA candidate. They will be our downfall.
